'My City My Parks' saw 400 children from 40 short listed schools undergo an extensive 100-day creative workshop on the issue of depleting urban greenery and learned to employ four creative forms - film making, theatre, photography and mural art installations - to bring their ideas to life. London, United Kingdom, Wednesday, February 29, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- Details of VisitBritain's largest ever image campaign(1) have been unveiled today by Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt. The national tourism agency's overseas advertising offensive will be seen across 14 major cities in nine key inbound tourism markets(2), reaching an audience of some 90 million people.

The £25 million image campaign will add to the £100 million match-funded tactical campaign(4) already being run by VisitBritain with commercial partners such as British Airways, easyJet, Hilton Worldwide, Radisson Edwardian and STA Travel to deliver the agency's biggest marketing push, with an aim to drive an extra 4.6 million visitors to the UK over the next four years, stimulating an additional £2.3 billion in international spend.

Looking to enhance overseas perceptions of the UK as a major tourist destination and help drive economic growth, the highly impactful image blitz will run until March next year, with activity being undertaken in major cities in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan and the US. The campaign will show the world what makes the UK such a GREAT place to visit at a time when high profile events such as the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, Cultural Olympiad, Torch Relay and the London 2012 Games are taking place.

In Delhi, GREAT billboards will line the main routes in the city and 200 GREAT branded taxis will be on the streets.

HART® Communication Protocol Ensures Reliable Communication with Crowcon's IRmax Gas Detector


Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Wednesday, February 29, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- Easy and reliable connection and communication is vital when using a gas detector, which is why Crowcon has introduced the HART Communication Protocol for its IRmax infrared (IR) hydrocarbon detector.

The HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer) Communication Protocol is the global standard for sending and receiving digital information across analog wires between smart devices and control or monitoring systems. More specifically, it is a bi-directional communication protocol that provides data access between intelligent field instruments like gas detectors and host systems. A host can be any software application, from a technician's hand-held device or laptop to a plant's process control, asset management or safety system using any control platform.

The HART Communication protocol is available with the IRmax in two formats:

-- Local hand-held communicator connection. In this format, HART communicators are used on industrial sites for maintaining and calibrating a host of instruments. The key benefit is that site maintenance staff can use a common communicator to maintain all of their safety and process instruments. The user simply needs to upload and install the DD (Device Description) file to their communicator to access a wide range of IRmax functions and displays, alarm thresholds and diagnostic information.

-- HART over a 4-20mA signal line. In this format, the safety function is performed by the 4-20mA signal (connected to a conventional controller or PLC/DCS). A HART device can then also be connected in parallel with the signal connections to read the detector's status information.

Featuring dual-wavelength IR sensor technology in a rugged 316 stainless steel package, the ultra-compact IRmax is designed to detect methane gas and other potentially explosive hydrocarbons in the harshest conditions.

As the IRmax contains no components for artificially heating optical surfaces, power consumption is dramatically reduced. It requires less than 1 Watt of power, typically 75-90% lower than conventional IR gas detectors. A gas detection system using IRmax detectors therefore requires smaller (and lower cost) power supplies and battery back-up systems. Longer cables can also be used and more detectors can be powered on addressable networks.

Unlike conventional IR gas detectors, the IRmax does not utilise heaters to prevent condensation on windows and mirrors. Instead, its optical components are treated with a highly durable hydrophobic coating called STAY-CLIR that completely prevents signal faults due to condensation.

Willing to let kids spend an average of $14 a month on subscriptions and downloads

Gurgaon, Haryana, India, Tuesday, February 28, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- A new research report published by iYogi Insights takes a closer look at how American parents view the iPad for their children. This is at a time when Apple is touting the device as the latest learning tool set to revolutionize education with its new iBooks textbook application. Despite the high price tag and debate surrounding this device, the latest research conducted by iYogi based on a survey of more than 2000 of its customers found that an encouraging 33% parents are willing to buy or have already bought their children iPads. The study also shows that parents are willing to let kids spend an average of $14 a month and at least two hours on the device every day.

Apple's strategy of entering the home via school and through making learning fun is likely to pay dividends as 92% of the parents willing to buys kids an iPad approve of its use for homework tool and 88% of them say their kids are doing well at school. Interestingly, 57% of these parents with two children or more said they would be happy to use the iPad to keep their kids out of their hair.

However, there is still a reluctant majority of 67% parents who are not willing to buy an iPad for their children. Of these, 67.2% would rather buy them a computer/laptop/ netbook and 26.5% are ready to by a Kindle. A significant 34% of the unconvinced are concerned that owning iPad will keep their children from making more friends and 50% believe that their kids are better off playing outdoors.

XMC4500 for the medium performance range of 120 MHz

The XMC4500 series currently comprises several products differing in terms of temperature range (85 °C or 125 °C), Flash memory size (512 kB to 1 MB) and package (LQFP-100, LQFP-144 and LFBGA-144). The XMC4500 microcontrollers provide a 120 MHz CPU, 160 Kbytes of RAM and a comprehensive range of peripheral and interface functions. The peripherals include four parallel fast 12-bit A/D converter modules, two 12-bit D/A converters, four delta sigma demodulator modules and six capture/compare units (CCU4 and CCU8). Added to this are two positioning interface modules, a touch button and an LED matrix control module. Communication functions comprise interfaces for Ethernet, USB, and SD/MMC. In addition, three CAN nodes, six serial communication channels and one external bus interface are provided.

Availability of other XMC4000 family members

XMC stands for "Cross-Market Microcontrollers" and, as its name implies, is for use in a wide range of industrial applications. The XMC4000 family currently consists of five series differing mainly in terms of core frequency, memory capacity, peripheral functions and number of I/Os: XMC4500 with 120 MHz CPU, for which samples are available, XMC4100 and XMC4200 with 80 MHz, XMC4400 with 120 MHz, and the XMC4700 series with 180 MHz still undergoing definition. Samples of the XMC4100, XMC4200 and XMC4400 series will be available in the fourth quarter of 2012.
