This IPL (Indian Premier League) season, Baidu India will team up with video platform Hotstar to offer free live-streaming cricket matches via its app store MoboMarket. Along with the free broadcasts, MoboMarket will also kick off its first ‘Cricket Guessing Game’ for fans to predict scores and win prizes.
 
According to the Baidu India team, the Cricket Guessing Game is “the ultimate playground for cricket enthusiasts to get together and have fun with their friends and family”. Available in-app on MoboMarket, the online game allows players to win points based on their guesses of IPL match outcomes. Players will earn 1,000 complementary points the first time they start the game on MoboMarket, and will then be able to use those points to support their team or guess the result of matches. In addition, players can earn more points by creating a group and inviting their friends to join.
 
The Cricket Guessing Game will be divided into four phases. At the end of each phase, qualified users will have a chance to win prizes, including mobile phones and mobile recharge credits. At the end of the 4th phase, all players who successfully created a group will get rewards based on the number of friends they invited and will win a guaranteed prize of up to Rs. 2500 mobile recharge credits.

Datsun today announced the start of pre-launch bookings for its much-awaited, ‘Datsun redi-GO’ urban-cross, a unique fusion of compact crossover and hatchback. The pre-booking orders for Datsun redi-GO will begin from 1st May, 2016. Deliveries of the vehicle to new owners will commence from June 2016.
 
The Datsun redi-GO will be priced between Rs. 2.5 lakh and 3.5 lakh; the ex-showroom prices and variants will be announced during the launch in June. Customers can pre-book their Datsun redi-GO with a fully refundable down payment of INR 5,000 at Nissan dealerships across India. Currently, the company has 217 outlets covering 165 cities, with plans to establish 300 sales and service outlets by the end of March 2017.

Datsun History
 
Datsun originated in Japan as DAT-GO (the DAT-car) almost a century ago in 1914. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation has proposed opening up 5,189 acres of land which at present is in the ‘no development zone’ (NDZ) as also 642 acres of salt pan lands within Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s limits. This is part of the new Development Plan which should be submitted to the BMC's general body shortly, said Niranjan Hiranandani, MD, Hiranandani Communities.
 
Last year, the Maharashtra Government has appointed a committee to supervise a plan for optimum utilization of salt pan lands in Mumbai. There was a suggestion that the salt pan lands in the city and the suburbs could be used for building affordable houses and civic amenities, such as open spaces. “Any good move on part of the powers that be, either the Municipal Corporation or the State Government, is welcome,” said Niranjan Hiranandani, MD, Hiranandani Communities. “The fact that the DP will look at the possibility of housing projects, to build affordable houses for people, on areas that are not ecologically sensitive is also welcome. Beyond the positive aspect, my thoughts are on how this also has the potential to help meet the challenge of a slum-free Mumbai,” he added.
 
Media reports suggest the proposal has the potential, considering both, NDZ and salt pan lands, to provide a much needed boost for development of about 1 million affordable housing units. Plus, the unlocking of these lands, on areas that are not ecologically sensitive, has the potential to help develop more social amenities in Mumbai.
 
“If one looks at the past decade, the story of Mumbai’s real estate has largely, remained constant: high demand for affordable homes, not enough support in form of restrictive rules and regulations, zoning and permissible FSI norms, excessive time taken for permissions and clearances. I have always felt that the powers that be, from the Centre to the State and the Local Self Bodies – not to forget bodies like Environment Clearance, or the DGCA for height clearance of structures from a flight path perspective – were more of ‘regulators’ than ‘facilitators’,’ explained Niranjan Hiranandani.
 
This has always resulted in directly impacting land availability for real estate development, he said. “To give an example, NDZ and salt pan lands, if allowed change in usage - on areas that are not ecologically sensitive - can be used for creation of low cost housing for LIG and EWC segments. This is why the proposal has the potential to be positive, utilization of NDZ and salt pan lands for building homes should be welcomed by Mumbaikars, said Niranjan Hiranandani.
 
“The proposal definitely has the potential to impact availability of land for real estate development, and if taken in sync with the proposed additional FSI for such projects, this should have a positive impact on making homes available for affordable and budget home seekers in Mumbai,” he added.
 
How will NDZ and salt pan lands in the city and the suburbs being used for building affordable houses impact Mumbai’s real estate? “The answer is simple,” said Niranjan Hiranandani. “If implemented properly and in a time-bound manner, things always work out better. But, any such proposal needs to be supplemented with other ‘positives’, such as infrastructure projects and policy decisions which help make it a reality,” he added.
 
“So, the proposal on NDZ and salt pan lands has the potential for not just enhancing the availability of land for real estate development, but it also needs support from citizens, as also time-bound infrastructure development to create the possibility of Mumbai’s LIG and EWC segment of home seekers finally getting their dream homes become a reality,” he concluded.

Mr. P.S. Pruthi, Former Member, Customs Excise & Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) ATA Carnet Workshop in Kolkata organised by FICCI and Mr. M.K. Sharma, Dy. Commissioner of Customs, Kolkata addressed the Workshop on ATA Carnet jointly organized by FICCI, ICC Asia, World ATA Carnet Council (WATAC), Paris and Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), Kolkata highlighted the importance of the ATA Carnet instrument for the business community and also challenges faced by Customs.  Mrs. Lee Ju Song, Executive Director of ICC Asia and Member of the World ATA Carnet Council, Paris, addressed the gathering and participated in the deliberations and sessions which discussed the importance of expanding the ATA Carnet system in India.
 

The workshop drew participation from senior customs officials, industry experts, extensive representation from export promotion councils, film associations, freight forwarding companies, customs house agents, fair and exhibition organizers. This event provided exporters and business experts with a unique opportunity to share their mutually beneficial knowledge and experiences. The industry discussed issues involved with respect to temporary imports of goods and drew benefit from the deliberations of the sessions.
 
ATA Carnet is a temporary admission document, which simplifies the customs procedures and clearances in a foreign country, without paying duty or a bank guarantee for temporary import into that country. Like a passport for goods, ATA Carnet allows for the goods for which it was issued to enter any of the participating countries for up to one year. An ATA Carnet holder can avoid customs declaration and can do away with security deposit or guarantee in the country of temporary importation. In India, FICCI is the sole National Guarantor for ATA Carnets.
 
ATA Carnet covers several areas for use including trade fairs, shows, exhibitions, meetings etc. for temporary export into a country, which is a signatory to the conventions governing ATA Carnets. Goods must be re-exported out of every country and re-imported into India within a year. At present 75 countries recognize ATA Carnet, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Spain, UAE, UK and USA.
 
The Government is actively considering to expand the scope of ATA Carnet System. At present, India is a signatory to convention on Exhibition and fairs only. It is proposed to expand the same to cover commercial samples, professional equipment, private exhibitions, film shootings, musical troupes, sports and media coverage etc. FICCI, which is the National Issuing and Guaranteeing Association (NIGA) for implementing ATA Carnets in India, is pursuing the matter with the Ministry of Finance for the expansion of scope of system to cover professional equipment and commercial samples.
