Kolkota, West Bengal, India, Wednesday, September 02, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- The world's second largest stadium by capacity has completed the installation of FieldTurf artificial grass. Yuva Bharti Krirangan, Kolkata popularly known as the Salt Lake Stadium has turned ever-green with FieldTurf installation on the 90,000 square feet soccer field. The world's top high profile venues continue to side with the synthetic turf innovation and performance that has become synonymous with FieldTurf.
Salt Lake Stadium hosts the home games of local clubs Mohun Bagan AC, East Bengal FC, and Mohammedan SC - three of the big clubs in Indian football. Many of the home games of the Indian national football team are also played in Salt Lake, in addition to many important games in major stages of national tournaments. The engineered FieldTurf surface is the ideal solution for a venue that hosts multi-purpose events and world class tournaments.
While, the newly turfed stadium will host the prestigious IFA Shield semi-finals and Grand Finale on 8th, 9th and 12th of September respectively (LIVE on ESPN); the surface is already in use with most of the national-level clubs already practicing on it.
