New Delhi, Delhi, India, Wednesday, September 02, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- School teacher Archana Tripathy of Government Upper Primary School, Meeranagar, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, now finds the world a smaller place. She has learned to integrate computers and the internet into her teaching, as a result of which her students incorporate research and high-order thinking skills into their studies. Archana is one of the about one million Indian teachers who is certified under the Intel® Teach program and is able to communicate to her students the digital literacy so crucial for success in a knowledge economy.
Intel today celebrated 10 years of the Intel Education Program in India and announced a significant milestone with approximately one million teachers, teacher educators and student teachers having completed the Intel Teach program during the past 10 years, across 20 states and 73 universities in the country. Globally, Intel has trained over six million teachers across 50 countries and India is the second country to reach this milestone.
The estimated millionth teacher, Ms Sujata Goahin Baruah, who teaches chemistry at Jhanji Higher Secondary School in Sivasagar district, Assam, was honoured at the celebration for having demonstrated exceptional proficiency in implementing the Intel Teach curriculum. To see our vision turn into reality is indeed a great moment."

D Purandeshwari said, "Intel has been a valuable partner and key contributor towards our goal of driving educational transformation across the country. The Intel Teach Program has enabled numerous teachers to apply information technology and improve teaching.
