UST Global, an information technology solutions and services company for Global 1000 enterprises, today announced the appointment of Gary L. Cowger, Chairman and CEO of GLC Ventures a management consultancy on business, manufacturing and technology strategy and global organizational structures and implementation.
Prior to this, Mr. Cowger was the Chairman of the board of trustees at Kettering University, and he currently serves on the boards of companies and institutions such as Delphi Automotive, Titan International and Tecumseh Products, Detroit Symphony and the College for Creative Studies.

In the past, Mr. Cowger has served as a board member of Saturn Corporation; OnStar; Saab; Adam Opel, AG; GM of Canada; NUMMI; and GMAC. He has also served on the Board of the United Negro College Fund, MIT North America Executive Board, the governing board for the Leaders for Manufacturing at MIT, and was the Co-Chair of the Martin Luther King Memorial Foundation Executive Leadership Cabinet with the Honorable Andrew Young. He recently served on the Committee for Advance Vehicles and Fuels, a study being conducted for a report to Congress sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
As of December 2009, Mr. Cowger had retired from his long-term career with General Motors, that began in 1965. The tenure brought him to the position of Group Vice President of General Motors Global Manufacturing, Global Manufacturing Engineering and Labor Relations. Other senior positions that he held at General Motors included President and Managing Director of GM de Mexico, Chairman of Adam Opel, AG, Group Vice President of Manufacturing and Labor Relations, and President of GM North America.
Mr. Cowger received his bachelor's degree in engineering at General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in Flint, Mich., earning his Master of Science degree in management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Sloan Fellow in Cambridge, Mass., in 1978. He holds an honorary doctorate of humane letters degree from Lindenwood College (St. Charles, Mo.) and an honorary doctor of engineering from Kettering University. He is a member of the Society of Corporate Executives (ASCE).
