Dell i-Mobile Lab Travels to Gudivanka Village in Andhra Pradesh
Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Thursday, October 18, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- To champion the cause of ICT in education, Former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam visited the Dell i-Mobile Lab at Agastya campus, Gudivanka in Andhra Pradesh, today. The Dell i-Mobile Lab is a specially designed van equipped with the latest in technology like laptops, projectors and internet connectivity. In partnership with Agastya International Foundation, the Dell i-Mobile Lab will provide school children across India, with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge of science and cement their IT skills.
As a part of Dell's Youth Learning initiative, Dell India in partnership with Agastya International Foundation launched an i-Mobile Lab in Noida and Coimbatore, to improve the creativity of school children in their science classroom. The Dell i-Mobile Lab will use 17 different innovative sessions of ICT based learning through face-to-face classroom methods, enhanced student-teacher interaction models and computer mediated activities. Adding to the mobile hands-on learning sessions, the Lab will also facilitate children-teach-children science fairs, to improve science learning outcomes.
The Dell i-Mobile Lab is the result of a vision to spark creativity and curiosity through the concept of 'Blended Classrooms', which uses an integrated mix of traditional, non-traditional and digital approaches to facilitate easy and in-depth learning. Also contributing their time and effort are Dell volunteers, who are actively involved in providing technical and logistical support towards the success of this initiative.
"Our work with Agastya International Foundation is giving us the power to provide the technology, the know-how and the resources to help the next generation grow and thrive in their communities. With the launch of the Dell i-Mobile Lab, we hope to strengthen our initiatives towards encouraging inclusive education in India and to improve science comprehension and appreciation through the mobile science learning program." Ranjita Menon, Strategic Giving Manager, APJ, Dell.
Agastya International Foundation is a public charitable trust involved in pioneering work to encourage creativity and hands-on education to disadvantaged children and teachers in India.
