Police Magazine Kolkata PROTECTOR Launched
Kolkota, West Bengal, India, Tuesday, February 02, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- In a major initiative to help connect the police with the public, Kolkata Police on Monday launched a bi-monthly magazine, titled The Kolkata PROTECTOR, in association with the magazine publishing house New Media.
"The objective of the Kolkata PROTECTOR is present the law enforcing authorities, especially Kolkata Police in a proper and right perspective and to bridge the communication gap between the cops and the community," said Kolkata Police Commissioner Gautam Mohan Chakraborty, releasing the publication at Press Corner of the Kolkata International Book Fair at Milan Mela Ground.
"The Kolkata PROTECTOR reflects our commitment to serve the people of this city," he said. The Cover Story of the inaugural issue ON ALERT 24X7 says it in as many words, "I firmly believe that constant communication with the community is the mantra for improving the public perception of the police. In this context, The Kolkata PROTECTOR will surely help bridge the communication gaps existing between the police and the public," said Chakraborty in his message to Kolkatans in the maiden issue.
The 76-page full-colour publication carries a photo feature and history of Kolkata Police, their 300-year evolution from a tiny Watch and Ward Unit in 1704 to the most modern and mighty force that they are today, making the magazine a truly collectors' number.
The Kolkata PROTECTOR carries three important interviews with Special Commissioner of Police (I) R. K. Pachnanda, Special Commissioner of Police (II) B.B, Basu and Additional Commissioner of Police K. Harirajan, highlighting respectively the key issues of security, community policing and traffic management aimed at keeping Kolkata safe and secure.
"Our intention is to make every issue of The Kolkata PROTECTOR a collectors' number, informative as well as educative," said New Media's Managing Editor Satya Swaroop. "We trust the maiden issue of the magazine enlightens the readers as much as it helps them connect with the cops," he added.
