Fleximoms Behind the Wheel in Support of The Forum for Breast Cancer Protection
Partners Women's Car Rally 2009
New Delhi, Delhi, India, Thursday, September 24, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- Come 2nd October and over 75 women professionals and their partners get behind the wheel at the Women's Car Rally 2009 in support of The Forum for Breast Cancer Protection, an NGO involved in spreading awareness on Breast Cancer prevention and its early detection.
Fleximoms is supporting the event being organized to raise awareness and funds for The Forum for Breast Cancer Protection. There is a magnificent event line up, including a ceremonial flag-off on October 1st 2009, at DLF Place Mall, Saket in New Delhi and a rally to Agra on 2nd October. The event will conclude with a closing ceremony at Agra. Of course, there are prizes at the end - but as participants will discover - the journey is really the destination!
The Women Car Rally 2009 has got permit from Federation of Motor Sports Club of India and has appointed Tutu Dhawan as the Chief Steward. Women's Car Rally 2009 combines the increasing interest in motorsports with a perfectly relevant cause. The Rally is a Time Speed Distance (TSD) event that comprises a set of instructions specifying a route to travel, and a speed at which to travel (the speed will not be much and would not exceed the maximum permissible speed for that road). A team, consisting of a driver and a navigator, attempts to travel the specified route at exactly the specified speeds. The team is scored on how closely to the correct time they arrive. The thrill lied in completing the rally as per instructions and enjoying the drive.
The Forum for Breast Cancer Protection works towards the followng objectives:
-- Reaching out to a large number of women from vulnerable age groups and from different walks of life, and spread amongst them awareness of breast cancer, its prevention and early detection
-- Providing psychological counselling to patients as well as to family members
-- To spread the message that breast cancer is curable provided it is detected in its early stages
One out of 30 women in urban India runs the risk of developing breast cancer. With medical treatment becoming more accessible, awareness and self-examination is key to prevent falling victim to this deadly disease. And there is a silver lining - breast cancer is completely curable if detected in time. More than 80% of women with breast cancer can live longer and increase the odds of being cured if it is detected early. It's not an individual's disease; its repercussions are felt by the entire family. With a simple 15-minute self-examination, you can save a life, Yours.
Join Fleximoms and the Forum for Breast Cancer Protection by participating in the first women's car rally from New Delhi to Agra, and help collect funds for The Forum for Breast Cancer Protection. Take up the opportunity to be associated with the cause of breast cancer prevention and improving the overall health of women in India.

The Forum for Breast Cancer Protection was registered in the year 2001 as an NGO (registration number - F-200/01/801) with the single-minded focus on caring for patients suffering from the Cancer of the Breast. The Forum has been fully engaged in the task of generating wider awareness on breast cancer and has been conducting seminars, events, camps etc. to educate women about breast cancer protection. The Campaigns to encourage early detection and prevention of the disease have in fact led to the production of a pioneering educational film on "Breast Self Examination Technique" featuring demonstrations by Breast Cancer survivors. Treatment of cancer is very expensive. The Forum for Breast Cancer Protection aims to secure necessary funds for spreading awareness on breast self examination to prevent this cancer and also to detect it early. All the donations will be exempted from tax through 80G Act of Income Tax. (http://forumforbreastprotection.org).
