The Answer Key of the Civil Services Prelims examination 2016, of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was announced on 7 August 2016. The answer key with explanations and expected cut off was displayed on the website of NeoStencil (www.neostencil.com). Approximately 11.37 lakh candidates registered this year for the UPSC IAS Preliminary Examination.
The Preliminary Exam consists of two papers with multiple-choice questions. Both the papers carry 200 marks each (total 400 marks); this exam is designed to serve as a screening test only. The syllabus for Preliminary Exams Paper-I is of General Studies, which includes mainly the current affairs. In the CSAT or Paper-II of Preliminary Exam, which is the Aptitude Test, the candidate will have to score a minimum 33% of marks for qualifying in Mains (written). Only a candidate who qualifies in both papers will be eligible to appear for the UPSC mains exam on December 3, 2016.
