The Hero World Challenge hosted by Mr. Pawan Munjal, Chairman, Managing Director & CEO, Hero MotoCorp along with ace golfer Tiger Woods will begin at the Albany, a desert links style championship golf course in the Bahamas. India’s top golfer Anirban Lahiri will play in this year's tournament, becoming the first Indian player to feature in the prestigious PGA-sanctioned tournament, hosted by Hero MotoCorp and the Tiger Woods Foundation.
Anirban, who recently finished 5th at the PGA Championship, was wished good luck by Mr Pawan Munjal for the tournament week. Tiger Woods lauded Anirban's talent potential and said, "Anirban, I am sure will be a part of the Olympics and he will be great and hopefully he wins. That will be an explosion for all of India."
Speaking further about golf in India, Tiger Woods said, "What Pawan (Munjal) has done with Hero in India, that's important and that's how I see the game growing in India. It was fun being in Delhi to see the excitement and level of Indian golf. And also I got a chance to watch Cheyene (Woods' niece, who took part in Hero Women's Indian Open)."
Mr Munjal said, “Hero’s association with Tiger Woods and the Hero World Challenge is reflective of our rapidly growing global footprint. Our association with the event has been an exciting one and this year, we are happy to introduce Hero ambassador and Indian talent Anirban Lahiri to this prestigious marquee event."
This is the first year the event has moved outside the US. The first round of the 18-player game will start on 3rd December and the results will be announced on 6th December. (Note: India time is ten and a half hours ahead of Bahamas time)
