Mr Ravi Capoor, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and CEO, IBEF, formally launched the
Brand India Engineering campaign at the India Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) 2015 today in Mumbai.
Brand India Engineering is an initiative of the Department of Commerce, Government of India, being led by India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF) that aims to improve and increase awareness about Indian engineering products in international markets

Brand India Engineering campaign, Mr Ravi Capoor said, “
The campaign is expected to play an important role in improving perception about Indian engineering products. As Indian manufacturers strive towards moving up the value chain in the engineering sector, it is the right time for this campaign to make its presence felt globally.”
He also unveiled the official film and separate websites for Pumps & Valves (
www.indianpumpsandvalves.com) and Electrical Equipment & Products (
www.brandindiaelectricals.com) on the occasion.
While the film showcases the strengths of Indian engineering, the websites provide up-to-date information on Pumps & Valves and Electrical Equipment & Products. The websites also enable a matchmaking facility for interested international buyers.
A seminar on
Brand India Engineering was organised during the first day of IESS 2015. With a central theme on ‘Engineering Brand India for SMEs’, the panellists at the seminar included Mr Ravi Capoor, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India and CEO, IBEF, Mr Anupam Shah, Immediate Past Chairman, EEPC India, Mr Ajimon Francis, MD & Head, Brand Finance India, Prof Asim Tewari, Professor, IIT Bombay, Ms Poonam Sachdeva, Group Director - Corporate, SkipperSeil Ltd and Mr K L Dhingra, Regional Chairman (Western Region), EEPC India. During the seminar, Mr Capoor emphasised on the importance of branding and value addition for the Indian companies across sectors and asserted, “India’s engineering sector has to now move up from being a global supplier and sourcing agent to developing its own brands.”
In its fifth edition, IESS 2015 will see around 400 companies participating from India and overseas making it
India’s largest international engineering sourcing show organised by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, with EEPC India as the lead agency. India’s growing importance as an engineering sourcing destination is baked by recent studies that indicate the country’s potential. Research shows that the global market for engineering sourcing – which encompasses design and Research and Development (R&D) is likely to increase from around US$ 150 billion in 2008 to US$ 200-220 billion by 2020.
