The Chennai-based Integral Component Manufacturers Pvt Ltd (ICMPL), a leading manufacturer and supplier of high precision machined automotive components in India and Nishiura Seiko Co Ltd, a over 75 year old automotive components and specialized machines manufacturing company from Japan, today, have signed an agreement to form a new company ' Indo Nippon Precision Components Pvt Ltd' under a joint venture (JV) arrangement. The JV will see ICMPL & Nishiura holding an equal 40% share each and the balance 20 % equally shared by Round Inc (Japan) and ADM Technologies (India), thus making it a 50-50 Indo-Japanese partnership.
ICMPL’s 48000 sft infrastructure with state of art high precision parts manufacturing facility with a competitive edge will be leveraged by the joint venture with the expertise of Japanese technology in manufacturing critical components for Engines, Transmission, Brakes, Gear Boxes, Chassis Parts using the lean manufacturing Japanese principles of Nishiura in small automated production systems. Indo Nippon Precision Components Pvt Ltd will cater to the requirements of Japanese Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) companies and automotive components manufacturing companies established for their India and other overseas operations including Japan. In addition the JV will be working on opportunities with Indian manufacturers to implement technology related to manufacturing small automation systems to make the Indian companies more competitive globally.
Speaking at the press conference Mr. V.S. Karunakaran, the Managing Director of ICMPL said, "We are extremely happy to partner with Nishiura, a company globally known for its high precision, quality & technological advancement in the field of automotive components, specialized machine manufacturing and complete automation. A first of its kind joint venture by a Japanese company with an Indian small Industries in the component manufacturing segment, this partnership will not only integrate Nishiura's technology with ICMPL's manufacturing capabilities to mutually benefit each-others blue chip clientele, but also will contribute to India's rapidly growing automotive sector".
"With a planned investment of Rs 10 crores during the first year, We at ICMPL, propose to send 10 of our present workers to Japan for training in special skills, who on their return will train 100 new recruits for the new company. This will be followed by 10 more from the new batch visiting Japan for special skills training. With the proposed first production beginning from December 2015, we foresee 2 lakh component production per month by working across three shifts and with 25 crores of proposed outlay by the third year, we look forward to reaching 5 lakh per month production with 100 more employees" he added.

With India’s rapidly growing automotive sector, India is forecast to become the world’s fourth largest automobile manufacturing nation by 2020, with a growth of approximately 3.5 million units today to over 7 million units.
