- Part of Korea’s Transmission Network expansion and modernisation project
- Equipment to be manufactured in CG’s Nashik facility in India
- Fast track delivery from CG by end of the year
Avantha Group Company CG has bagged a prestigious order for 365kV and 154kV Capacitive Voltage Transformers (CVT) from
Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), the largest electric utility of South Korea and responsible for 93% of Korea's electricity generation. CG won this order beating stiff international competition in a public bid based on its excellent track record in KEPCO, its ability to deliver technologically advanced solutions and the shortest delivery period of five months from the contract signing.
The transformers which are scheduled to be delivered by the end of this year are the latest in the trend of using Polymeric Insulated Products in the international market and the largest direct order from the Korean utility for polymeric products. Polymeric products have excellent qualities like flame resistance, light weight, easy handling, proven ageing resistance against degradation and deterioration. It provides high safety in seismic active areas as shock absorbers are not necessary in this case.
CG has been present in South East Asia for the past two decades and has previously partnered with KEPCO for the supply of Instrument Transformers (IT). The company has a presence in over 18 countries in the region with active representation in most countries. This order not only reinforces CG’s relationship with KEPCO but also strengthens its position in the Korean market. Since its rapid development in the 1970s and 1980s, the Republic of Korea has become a major economic and industrial power in East Asia. This growth has been accompanied by a surge in the overall energy demand.
CG is present in the Switchgear international market for almost 20 years with its largest facility in Nashik, India, manufacturing a wide range of products from 3.3kV to 1200kV in one single location. CG has been an innovator of world class products, the latest additions to which are the 1200kV CVT, 550kV Current Transformer (CT) and CVT, 300kV and 400kV Inductive Voltage Transformer (IVT) and the 765kV Gas Circuit Breaker (GCB). Today, more than 50% of the high voltage switchgear manufactured by the company is exported to more than 55 countries worldwide along with prompt after sales service by trained CG personnel.
Commenting on this major win,
Avantha Group Company CG’s CEO and Managing Director, Mr. Laurent Demortier said, “We thank KEPCO for this opportunity to collaborate with them once again in building their national transmission system. The high efficiency and reliability of our products make us the preferred partner of national utilities in the development of their country’s electricity network. This order reaffirms CG’s focus in making India an export hub leveraging its value proposition of world-class domestic manufacturing facilities, indigenous technology, customised solutions and high quality equipment”.
