- To maintain and repair on-load tap changers on 4,500 high power transformers
- Maintain energy supply to 35 million households
- Significant headway for CG into the French tap changer maintenance market
Avantha Group Company CG has bagged a 3-year contract from the French distribution network operator Électricité Réseau Distribution France (ERDF), which manages 95% of the electricity distribution network in France, to provide maintenance and repair services to 4,500 high power transformers. These transformers of ERDF, a subsidiary of EDF, are credited with supplying energy to 35 million households in France.
As part of this contract, CG will provide preventive and corrective maintenance of the ERDF on- load tap changers (OLTC) through speedy turnaround services. In larger
power transformers, for proper
voltage regulation, on-load tap changers are required. Tap changers continuously adjust the transformer load to the power demand and ensure uninterrupted and secure electric supply, making them a crucial piece of equipment. An OLTC allows changes in voltage ratio without de-energising the transformer
. CG is a pioneer in the design and development of on-load tap changers, positioning it as a strong service provider for OLTC. CG’s proven expertise in this segment and technological advantage was a compelling proposition for ERDF. This contract follows the significant win of being chosen as one of the core manufacturers and suppliers of the first lot of three million Linky smart meters to ERDF as part of its grid modernisation initiative.
In fulfilling this new contract, CG will be supported by its dedicated service team of high-voltage specialists in Fécamp and Avignon (France) and Belgium, and its repair workshops in Avignon and Charleroi (Belgium). These personnel are part of the CG Service Division which caters to utilities, renewable players and industries throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa through a bouquet of solutions to maintain, repair and refurbish high-voltage installations.
Commenting on winning this important contract,
Avantha Group Company CG’s CEO and Managing Director Laurent Demortier, said: “We thank the French utility for this opportunity to continue our association with them. This contract helps us to further strengthen our relationship with ERDF and our market presence in France. This engagement will be a valuable addition to the existing long-term agreement on repair and maintenance of high power transformers. With our technologically driven end-to-end solutions and services, we look forward to a continuously growing relationship with France in the future”.
