Green manufacturing is gaining an edge as it is becoming an imperative across the world. With rapid modernization and industrialization there has been significant pressure on natural resources. Inorder to keep a check and save the ecology, many countries are setting down regulations on manufacturing organizations. At the same time companies with foresight are already working towards saving the environment by adopting green manufacturing practices.
The International Research Institute for Manufacturing (IRIM), in offering its support to green manufacturing launched the India Green Manufacturing Challenge (IGMC) in April 2014, an awards platform designed to recognize manufacturing firms that have shown consistent progress in improving sustainability factors associated to a manufacturing facility.
