- Business-oriented discussions mirror the return of growth in the automotive sector
- Quality, scale and range of exhibits leaves domestic aftermarket impressed
The 2nd edition of ACMA Automechanika New Delhi, which successfully concluded its four-day run this March offered industry players a credible networking platform to discuss automotive industry policies, challenges and best practices amidst the presence of key decision makers and automotive sector players. With 436 exhibitors from 17 countries, it was the largest aftermarket exhibition held for the Indian automotive industry.
Growing in tandem with the market, ACMA Automechanika New Delhi also achieved a new visitor record as 12,861 business visitors from India and abroad attended the 2nd edition - an impressive 58 percent increase in visitor numbers from the launch edition in 2013.
The trade fair’s growing significance in one of the most lucrative consumer markets for the automotive aftermarket sector was reaffirmed by Ms Yashodhara Raje Scindia – Minister of Commerce, Industries and Employment, Madhya Pradesh who said: “I have come to realise that ACMA Automechanika New Delhi is a very important platform for the auto ancillary aftermarket. India offers great prospects for companies looking to invest here and Madhya Pradesh, with its established auto policy, can provide a wider range of opportunities. I met with most of the leading companies as well as the smaller companies from countries like India, Germany, Japan, Korea to discuss these investment opportunities.”
Presenting innovative auto-components in six different categories of Parts and Systems, Accessories and Tuning, Tyres and Batteries, Repair and Maintenance, IT and Management, Service Stations and Car Washes, the platform facilitated significant business closures, tie-ups and merger announcements during its four-day course. Seven international pavilions from China, Germany, Italy, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the UK represented their nation’s competitiveness in mobility, vehicle components and servicing solutions.
Confirming the show was a success for members of the Thai Auto Parts Aftermarket Association, Mr Nattawat Bunworaset, President said: “The show has been a success for us! Many exhibitors seemed to have closed deals and received orders on the first day itself and we are sure that with this enthusiastic response will be able to bring even more exhibitors to the show next year. Also, Messe Frankfurt’s support team in Thailand and India made the participation process very smooth for us.”
Another international exhibitor, Mr Joaquin Martori, General Manager, Mahle Filter Systems (India) Ltd from the German Pavilion said: “Energy of the Indian aftermarket is catching attention and we see good potential here. We did a lot of homework before coming to India about the companies we wanted to target and at ACMA Automechanika we met majority of these decision makers.”
Platinum partners Bosch found the visitor response ‘amazing and like never before’. Mr Guenter Weber, Regional President, Automotive Aftermarkets, Bosch Ltd stated: “We chose ACMA Automechanika New Delhi to showcase our three products categories – Parts, Bytes and Services – to the Indian aftermarket and saw good progress in building customer relations and sharing product information with our target clientele. Going by the satisfying experience this year, we will definitely consider being part of the next edition in 2017.”
Describing the platform as a reputable industry brand, Mr Taneja, Director, Shriram Pistons & Rings said: “When two great brands like ACMA and Automechanika come together, it makes a much bigger brand.” Whereas Mr Arvind Chaudhary, Managing Director of Ample Autotech Pvt Ltd described their participation “very worthwhile.” He added: “We met customers from almost all segments we cater to and with the leads and customer feedback we have received through the show, we will have to consider increasing our production line.”
Liqui Moly, the German manufacturer specialising in oils, lubricants and additives, was also satisfied with their participation at the fair. Mr Mathias Moll, Manager – Trade Fair and Events, Liqui Moly GmbH said: “We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of visitors as we only met serious buyers at the show. ACMA Automechanika New Delhi was a very well organised with a very supportive team.” Liqui Moly partnered with Anand Group for oils, additives and car care products and both companies announced their co-operation at the trade fair.
“AURA” brand, originally with Hindalco Industries Ltd and re-launched by Precision Auto Industries Pvt Ltd was also on display by Precision Group at the exhibition. Happy with the ‘fantastic visitor response’ both General Managers Mr. N. T. Gajare and Mr. Chandrakant J. Bhosale unanimously said: “Customers who know about the Aura brand were happy that Precision Group has re-launched these premium quality alloy wheels. We got plenty of inquiries. Just like the 2013 edition, we are sure to close some good deals from the leads generated this time.”
Mr Umesh Beriwal, General Manager, Purchase and Internal Logistics, Eicher Tractors, from Madhya Pradesh looks forward to closing deals for his requirements through the show. When asked for feedback, he said: “ACMA Automechanika New Delhi is a platform to look at new concepts, meet new partners and have a new perspective on industry. The Automechanika brand always presents new technology for OE’s to source from and we can say that we have found companies at the show for our requirements”. Another business professional, Mr Nitin Chavan, Deputy General Manager, Strategic Sourcing, Mahindra and Mahindra, visiting from Mumbai, said that “the exhibition facilitates a nexus between OEM’s and distributors’ and opens a channel to compare products that are manufactured and meet suppliers of OE and accessories from India and many other international countries.”
Also visiting the fair was Mr Joginder Singh Sethi, Hon’able General Secretary, Delhi Motor Traders’ Association, Delhi who said: “Indian automotive industry is giving a tough competition to the international market and the approach that Indian companies have adopted in recent years has been remarkable. I take this opportunity to congratulate the Messe Frankfurt and ACMA team for putting up this wonderful show, better than any other show that takes place in the Indian subcontinent.” Appreciating the business credibility of the platform, he added: “The biggest asset of ACMA Automechanika New Delhi is the genuine customers that walk in the doors, from the south Asian regions of Iran, Afghanistan and South India.”
ACMA Automechanika New Delhi this year also turned explorative and educative incorporating several networking initiatives such as a one-day ACMA Automechanika New Delhi seminar, the first ACMA Global MSME Summit, as well as ACMA’s ‘Asli Naqli’ Pavilion and Messe Frankfurt’s ‘Against Copying’ campaigns. The exhibition also saw the launch of an Importers Directory for auto industry professionals and a white paper on Transformative Technologies of Future Cars by Frost & Sullivan.
The next edition of ACMA Automechanika, focusing purely on the needs of the growing Indian aftermarket will be scheduled in 21 – 23 March 2017 and will continue to present opportunities in the aftermarket as well as address industry concerns on counterfeit products sold in the replacement market.
