The members of the Saifee Burhani Park – Transit 1, a part of the Saifee Burhani Upliftment Project [SBUP] inaugurated their season III T-10 Cricket League with a view to boost and promote sports among the community members. The league, which was inaugurated on December 1, 2014 will see its finale at the Police Gymkhana on Sunday, December 7, 2014.
This one-of-its kind cricket league was initiated to encourage community participation from its members who belong to various walks of life. The ultimate aim is to uplift the society and inspire human development, and what better medium than cricket – India’s most popular sport -- to achieve this goal.
The Cricket League also gives impetus to SBUT’s vision of achieving socio-cultural upliftment through the Bhendi Bazaar Redevelopment Project. Twenty teams from various locations is competing for the esteemed trophy from His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin (TUS). The league recently paid homage to Philip Hughes, Australian test and one-day International Cricketer, who passed away on November 27 this year.
The Saifee Burhani Upliftment project is a project initiated by SBUT to redevelop South Mumbai’s vibrant but congested Bhendi Bazar into a modern living and work space for its residents.
