Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Maschio Gaspardo signed up the global consulting firm Breakthrough Management Group India, (BMGI) for its lean transformation.

With 19 production units worldwide producing 61 variants of the rotary tiller, the Italian firm, Maschio Gaspardo is today a leader in the production of agricultural equipment for tillage, seeding, crop care, green maintenance and hay making.

Ramping up the production in double digits over the last year, the organization is looking for enabling structures to sustain the pace of growth. The group has identified Lean as one of the methods to leverage its growth and avoid immediate need for a capex to support growth.

Maschio evaluated various consulting firms before zeroing on BMGI as its partner to support its growth.

Talking about BMGI’s approach, the plant head in India Mr Morosin Alessandro shared that “We are delighted at the kind of deep rigor and analysis applied by BMGI while carrying out the various analysis to assist in the lean transformation. We are already seeing significant line of sight of where the opportunities exist today for reducing conversion time we are hopeful lean can help us in capex avoidance.”

The lead consultant Ms Akanksha Tyagi, an alum of Indian School of Business, shared that the opportunities for improvement in the plant are quite high and the timing for the organization to go lean couldn’t be better.

Mr Vishnupriya Sharma, Program Manager at BMGI, observed that at a time when India is pitching to the world to “Make in India”, the enablers like Lean become a useful methodology to avoid immediate investments in capex, enable plants to be more productive and reduce operational costs, free up working capital and improve cash flow of organizations.
