Intellvisions Partners with Accenture to usher a Paradigm Shift in Branch Banking

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Branch Banking in the coming years will witness a paradigm shift. With an increasingly young generation and demanding set of customers the days of 4000 Sq feet, 12 to 15 tellers and 6 to 8 hours of operation will pave way to more downsized branches with a smaller footprint. The bulk of the transactions will move into self service and the role of the tellers will be more advisory and less transactional in nature. sbiINTOUCH in many ways ushers the era of Lean Banking, in other words the shift will be to 1000 Sq feet, 3 to 5 tellers and 12 hours operations.

On July 1st the nation’s largest bank rolled out sbiINTOUCH across 6 cities. sbiINTOUCH in many ways signals the way branch banking operations will be conducted in the foreseeable future. The bank engaged Accenture to develop the digital business strategy for its branch programme. Accenture and Intellvisions worked closely to deliver a truly exceptional digital experience, the first of its kind in India. Intellvisions was the prime partner to deliver the country’s most sophisticated electronic banking lobbies in a record time of less than 45 days. This included the entire range of self service terminals (other than ATMs) with software stack, complete digital signage stack and extending capabilities of Intellvisions Floor Jockey range of solutions that seamlessly shifts the work flow between kiosk and  tablet.

“India is in the midst of a major demographic transition and we recognize that our customers increasingly expect digital services to help them manage their financial needs. Today, more than half of India's population is under the age of 25. By 2020, India's average age will be just 29 years - this is a digital demographic: one that expects businesses to provide solutions immediately. At the same time, the mass-affluent - no matter what their age - have similar expectations. These branches are a first step in the journey to offering full digital services across the nation," says State Bank of India Chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya.

The highlight of sbiINTOUCH is the Instant card issuance Kiosk perhaps the first of its kind in the world. It enables a customer to open an account and walk out with a Personalised EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) card within 15 minutes. Intellvisions team of software engineers developed an entire end to end work flow management interfacing our ISSA middleware to the banks core banking solution and Card Management Systems. ISSA 'Integrated Self Service Architecture' is the most comprehensive middleware to rapidly deploy a self service solution across a wide range of industries like Banking, Telecom or Retail which offers stable, secure and feature-rich self-service applications that are easy to use and helps in rapidly cutting down the development time associated with interfacing Kiosks to heterogeneous systems.

“For us at Intellvisions it has been an honor and a privilege working with the nation’s largest Bank and the exemplary thought leadership provided by the Accenture team. sbiINTOUCH has been an immensely satisfying journey.
