UST Global, an information technology solutions and services company for Global 1000 enterprises, has successfully launched “Step IT Up America” a program dedicated towards Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) efforts in America that will help to train and employ women across the country. Its main objective is to provide women with technological skills to launch their careers in the field of Information Technology.

For us, Step It Up is not just an initiative, but a sustained effort to help bring more talent that will contribute towards the development of a knowledge economy.”
UST Global commenced the program with the aim of creating 5000 new Jobs for Inner City Women and Girls to enter Tech Careers by 2020. The first phase of the program will target 1,000 inner-city women from minority communities in ten of the nation’s largest cities.
Having already launched in Atlanta and Philadelphia, Step IT Up America will be moving onto 8 other inner cities over the course of the year. Within those cities, the program will reach 50 communities across America to train and employ hundreds of minority women each year.
Further elaborating on the need of the program, Sajan said, “Right now, women make up just one fourth of the STEM workforce, and our goal is to help increase that number. This program will profoundly affect these women and the communities they come from by offering the girls an opportunity to find successful careers.”
The program is off to a great start in Clark Atlanta University, with the inaugural class of 33 women beginning their training earlier late last month. As these minority women start their training, they choose one of three tracks to pursue: QA Analysis, Businesses Analysis or Software Development. This gives the women a chance to explore their strengths and follow the track they feel is best for them.
After training commences, UST Global also offers opportunities for these women to work at various business in and around Atlanta. UST Global has similar plans for the women who are chosen to be trained in Philadelphia.
