UST Global, an information technology solutions and services company for Global 1000 enterprises, was a proud supporter of the Pinkathon 2014, that took place in the city last Sunday. A large team of women employees participated in the 10k run that was aimed at increasing awareness about women’s health and fitness.
With a particular focus on educating women about the causes and prevention of breast cancer, Pinkathon, a women’s only run, kicked off at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore. The event saw an overwhelming response through corporate participation across the city.
Sharing his views on the event, Sudhansu Panigrahi, GM & Center Head – Bangalore, at UST Global said, “Events such as these have positive effects that are manifold. They help educate people about breast cancer, help fund research that is imperative to fight it and help prevent it, and, gives people reason to help maintain healthier lifestyles. At UST Global, we have also conducted a breast cancer awareness programme, by doctors of the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) and sponsored Trivandrun 2014 in January for a similar cause. These programs are coordinated by the social initiative wing of ‘Colours’, which is a highly effective and popular employee engagement program at UST Global.”
Priyanka, a UST Global employee at Bangalore and a second timer at Pinkathon said, “I feel very privileged to be a part of the Pinkathon run and lend my support to creating awareness about Breast cancer. Awareness is the key and Pinkathon has effectively been alerting women in making an early diagnosis and help in the fight against breast cancer.”
Currently in its third edition, the Pinkathon, organized by Milind Soman, co-founded Maximus Mice & Media Solutions, has seen the participation of over 12000 women that have come together across the cities of Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Pune. It has also attracted major celebrity endorsements and media attention every year.
