EduKart Organized Networking Meet in New Delhi

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Thursday, October 03, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- EduKart, India's leading Distance Learning cum Online Education Company organized its second networking meet in New Delhi on Sunday, 29th september 2013. The meet was organized at Fortune Institute of International Business and witnessed a gathering of more than 30 participants.

The meet started with the resume building session by Mr. Sudhanshu Arora - Co-founder & Country Manager, Careesma India where he enlightened student upon various aspects of resume building, the do's and dont's of it and the common mistakes that both the freshers and experienced professionals make and the importance of tweaking resume according the job descriptions. The participants also asked questions like how to write a good mission statement, the achievements that should come before others, the importance of a cover letter etc.

It was followed by Panel Discussion with the experts from various industries. The panel consisted of Mr. Arpit Gupta from PayTM, Mr. Saurabh Sahu from Aditya Birla Finance Ltd., Mr. Puneet Bhaskar - Category Head at Snapdeal, Ms. Summy Kataria - Country Manager at Bloomberg Institute, Mr. Sudhanshu Arora - Co-founder & Country Manager, Careesma India and Mr. Mayank Gupta - COO, EduKart.com. The topic of the Panel Discussion was Career Opportunities across Sectors. It was quite interesting to see various viewpoints held by industry experts. The discussion was moderated by Mr. Ishan Gupta, CEO, EduKart.

The panel discussed various things and some of the conclusions that were formed were that most industries are today open to hire professionals who are from different domains. In a way it adds to the value of organization by having people who have worked across different verticals and that can make organizations stand apart. The culture of the organization also holds importance. One has to be a fit into the culture of the organization because no matter how skilled you are, no organization would like to have somebody who is a misfit as it ruins the other things in organization. The panel also shared their views on what qualities do they look for while hiring. Honesty, Curiosity and preparedness were the common attributes that the panellists said they looked for.

"Apart from the educational qualifications, what extra one has done, and in interview, one question-how are you the best fit for the company?- these are the two questions that one must think about and answer well" said Ms. Summy Kataria.

Even if you hire a job consultant, your responsibility doesn't end there. They would receive thousands of such resumes. Its your responsibility to be in their visibility so that any opportunity out there actually comes to you. If you are on job portal, your resume should be active there. So be desperate. And of course honest and hardworking!" said Mayank Gupta, COO, EduKart.

"What you read in magazines or newspapers are mere snippets, they don't give an understanding of the industry. The good understanding can only come through a face to face interaction with your alumni, seniors and others in the industry. The key is to reach out to people. It not only gives the understanding of industry but also about the work life balance of that particular industry or job", said Saurabh Sahu about the importance of networking.

"Throughout your career, stay hungry, stay driven, have the passion and the fire always there. Don't get settled, take chances and risks and see how things go", advised Puneet Bhaskar.

The discussion ended with a note from Ishan Gupta to the students and alumni, "The one thing that I learnt from one of my mentors is that one should always have an opinion ready of the work that you are doing. If you do not have an opinion about your job, you might not be into it as much as you should be. This is what can take you far in your career."

The panellist and participants then proceeded for the networking over tea and coffee where the participants got chance to have a one on one talk with the experts and also mingle among themselves.

"It was a very inspirational and informative event where we could interact with renowned experts. I am looking forward to more such events in future", said Sumit Prakash, an EduKart Alumnus.
