Rockland Hospital Launches its Cardiac Department

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Wednesday, August 28, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- Mrs Preneet Kaur, Minister of State for External Affairs inaugurated the Cardiac Department today at the Rockland Hospital, Qutab institutional area, South Delhi. Led by Dr Harsh Wardhan, Chairman Cardiology, the Rockland Cardiac leadership team comprises Dr DK Jhamb, Executive Director, Dr Pradeep Nambiar, Chief Cardiac Surgeon, Dr BK Dubey, Director, Dr Hemant Gandhi and Dr Pankaj Ranjan.

The addition of a full fledged Cardio department by the Rockland Hospitals group in its Qutab institutional area facility is yet another step in upgrading the facilities at its oldest unit in line with the group's newly created hospitals at Manesar and Dwarka, which have been built to international standards.

Mrs Preneet Kaur congratulated the Rockland Hospitals team for creating a chain of tertiary care hospitals in the Delhi NCR and appreciated the group's efforts at creating a healthcare delivery mechanism which will take healthcare services to patients at remote locations in India and other developing countries. She highlighted the importance of diagnostics at remote locations through a technology interface and a need for quality healthcare delivery up to village levels at affordable costs.

Rajesh Srivastava, Chairman, Rockland Hospitals, said that "the foreign exchange earning potential in this sector is very high. India is already a leading nation in Asia and can become the No 1 destination in Asia on the strength of its quality doctors and upcoming world class infrastructure. The healthcare sector also offers a huge opportunity for the young Indians to be globally employed as the Indian doctors and nurses are already internationally respected for their competence."

Rockland Medical Corridor

As a part of their expansion plans, the Rockland Hospitals Group is building a medical corridor to cover the entire Delhi NCR from Manesar on the western side to Noida on the eastern side. Three multi speciality hospitals with a total beds capacity of over 800 beds have already been launched and are fully operational at Manesar, Dwarka and South Delhi. Land for the Noida unit has already been acquired and the plans are on to complete this hospital by 2015-16. The Medical Corridor in addition to the hospitals will also have a Medical College at Manesar and a Para Medical College at Noida.

Rockland Health Network

Rockland Group is looking at inorganic growth by building a network model of healthcare delivery as a part of their long term expansion plans. This will be done through a five layered model connecting the Rockland tertiary care hospitals with small hospitals, nursing homes and clinics with the last leg connectivity through health volunteers. This model will be replicated in a phased manner to cover the entire North and North East India. "The Health Network creation process will begin towards the end of this year" said Rajesh Srivastava, Chairman, Rockland Hospitals Group.

The benefits of the network healthcare delivery model will be in several forms. A centralized reporting centre managed by highly qualified doctors can analyze diagnostic images and lab samples from remote locations which can reduce the cost of medicare significantly through correct diagnosis. Hiring of experts and super specialists in remote locations is a huge challenge for small hospitals and can prove to be very costly also. The network model resolves this challenge for small hospitals, doctors and the patients by simply linking up through a technology interface.
