J V Ramamurthy takes over as the new President; Amar Babu appointed Vice President

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Friday, October 19, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- MAIT, the apex body representing India's IT hardware, training and R&D services sectors, today organised its twenty-ninth Annual Session. MAIT this year also completes 30 years since its inception in 1982 with a great elan. The event also marked change of guards at the Association with Mr J V Ramamurthy, President, HCL Infosystems Ltd taking over as the new President and Amar Babu, MD, Lenevo as its Vice President for the term 2012-13.

Announcing the President and the Vice President for 2012-13, Dr Alok Bharadwaj, President MAIT (for 2011-12) said, "We are pleased to have Mr J V Ramamurthy on board as the President of MAIT. An industry veteran, with in-depth exposure to various aspects of the IT industry, he is immensely respected in the industry for his incisive vision and astute knowledge. We are also delighted to have Amar Babu as our Vice President. Both have contributed immensely to the development of IT market in the country. With their vast experience, they will add immense value towards augmenting and furthering the IT industry ecosystem in the country.

Delineating MAIT's roadmap for the future, the new MAIT President, Mr Ramamurthy said "it gives me immense pleasure and pride to be a part of the leadership team of this great Association. In the year ahead, MAIT would continue to play a pivotal role in the growth of the Industry and focus on enhancing visibility and relevance in matters like policy advisory and research. He further said, "MAIT would also work very closely with the Government, Industry and other stakeholders including other Industry bodies to raise the profile of the industry, influence the environment in which the members operate and increase the benefits of membership".

Commenting on being elected MAIT Vice President, Amar Babu said "I am grateful to the industry for reposing faith in me. For India to emerge globally competitive in the hardware arena, apart from creating a vibrant domestic market, we need to create a stable policy regime. A robust and encouraging ecosystem covering all aspects of the downstream industry will enable us emerge as a strong IT manufacturing nation."
