HR Experts Define the Industry Roadmap at 2nd HT Shine HR Summit
Survey released at the Summit reveals 60% use social media as a recruitment tool; and 28% respondents say hiring has stopped for senior level jobs

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Thursday, September 27, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- Top 250 Human Resources professionals and CEOs gathered at the 2nd Hindustan Times Shine HR Summit to define the roadmap for the Indian industry, discussing challenges such as attrition, recruitment, progressive HR policies and the future of current practices. Organized by Shine.com and Hindustan Times, the Summit, in its second edition, provided a platform for CEOs and HR heads to come together and co-create solutions to current and future challenges.
 
Starting with the keynote address by Mr. R. Sukumar, Managing Editor, Mint, the audience was treated to an overview of the challenges, and as the head of one of the leading business newspapers in the country, how he sees the challenges of the industry going forward. The conversation was extremely insightful and set the tone for the day with high expectations.
 
Furthering the discussion on dynamics of the industry, a survey called Shine Organizational Survey, recently conducted by Shine.com, was released which revealed interesting facts and results on HR challenges in times of business slowdown, employee engagement and acquisition and workplace diversity. The survey reached out to 365 firms across India and, and highlights challenges faced by the HR professionals in terms of talent acquisition, slowdown, retention and hiring. Key insights from the survey were that hiring has become tougher in the last 6 months owing to better prospects available to candidates, and there was increased attrition rate as much as 60% within the first six months.
 
Following the release of the survey, the first panel, comprising senior CEOs, such as Mr. Dilip Chenoy, MD & CEO, National Skill Development Corporation, Mr. Vineet Nayar, Vice-President and CEO, HCL and Mr. R.C. Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki, the CEO panel set clear expectations from the organization's HR functions, especially keeping in mind today's challenging business agenda.

Bringing the voice of HR professionals to the table, Mr. Aditya K. Roy, Director - People Operation APAC, Google, Dr. Pallab Bandyopadhyay, Director - HR, Citrix, Mr. Rajeev Bhadauria, Director Group HR, Jindal Power & Steel, and Mr. Suresh Ramasubramaniam, Director HR, Max India, put forth interesting points across, and addressed several concerns raised by several business heads in the previous panel.

There were also discussions around the need for progressive policies in order to maximise the potential of the Demographic Dividend and encouraging diversity at workplace. This panel focussed on ways to integrate employees from diverse backgrounds into the workforce and create an empowered set of employees.
