Polaris' Social Initiative, Ullas Trust Wins Blue Dart Global CSR Award 2012

Ullas Trust, Polaris' social initiative that recognizes academic excellence in students from the economically challenged sections of society, was presented the award for its ongoing commitment towards igniting young minds and encouraging a 'Can Do It' spirit towards chasing their dreams and aspirations.

The inaugural Global CSR Awards was conducted by Blue Dart Express Limited, South Asia's premier courier and integrated express package Distribution Company, and part of the DHL Group, at the Taj Lands End, Mumbai. The awards recognized Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) champions across various industries and were part of the first World CSR Day. The Honorable Union Minister of Corporate Affairs, Dr. M. Veerappa Moily was the Chief Guest at the event, guided by leaders who believe in the value of sustainable CSR.

The Ullas Trust was set up in 1997 by the employees of Polaris to ignite & shape the young minds of students from Corporation, Government and Government-aided schools across the country. Very early in its evolution, Ullas decided to focus its energies on students from economically challenged backgrounds going through the most vulnerable stage in their journey - adolescence! Polaris' associates, through various Ullas workshops and programs, personally teach the students skills such as computer proficiency, spoken English, personality development etc. The students are also provided with the opportunity to participate in programs that give them a touch and feel of the corporate environment, having successful professionals as their mentors.
