JumpSurf Hotspot Now Shipping to India


Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Monday, February 27, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- LeapSky Wireless, the world's first Mobile Data Virtual Operator, will begin shipping its JumpSurf Personal Hotspot to India that will be preloaded US$18 credit and a further US$110 data roaming credits for use only in Singapore.

The JumpSurf Personal Hotspot (PHS) is a device that allows for seamless data roaming via its JumpSurf Mobility Service introduced in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, urban cities in Thailand, Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR.

JumpSurf's on-demand data service went live on 2nd February and aims to bring borderless data access to users to Europe during the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona.

"We will gradually roll out our mobility service starting with the United Kingdom, Belgium, and the Czech Republic. This will be a bonus for travelers going to Europe as JumpSurf offers a flat rate roaming fee of US$0.20 cents per 1MB of data usage." says Sai speaking on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress being held in Barcelona, Spain.


Typically, a business traveler uses between 20 to 25 MB of data a day when overseas and pay-as-you-go (PAYG) data roaming charges can be between US$5 to US$8 per 1MB.

Sai also clarified that JumpSurf's Mobility Service to India has been postponed to a later date pending the outcome of India's recent telecommunication suspension of 3G intra-circle roaming offered by telcos. The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has ruled that such roaming agreements are illegal and the matter is being discussed at a government level.

"We are working closely with our telco partners in India to explore every possibility to allow for some form of access, including the use of commercial Wi-Fi hotspots as access points for our JumpSurf mobility service," adds Sai.

JumpSurf's revolutionary borderless data access service is made up of two components; JumpSurf Personal Hotspot and JumpSurf Mobility Service. The JumpSurf Personal Hotspot (PHS) is a portable WLAN gateway that allows you to connect up to five different internet devices at one time. To access the Internet, you will need to have the JumpSurf mobility service which comes preloaded with the PHS device.

The service is extremely easy to use. As long as there is sufficient balance, you only need to switch it on to enjoy the service. There is no user configurable APN (access point name) settings to remember as long as you are in a country where coverage is available.

Coverage is being expanded to include the US, Australia and Netherlands in the third quarter of 2012.
