IMT-G Maintains Top-10 Status in Business India B-School Ranking
Delhi,Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, Tuesday, February 21, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- Institute of Management Technology Ghaziabad has once again been ranked among the Top 10 business schools in India by an independent survey.
The recently released Business India 2011 B-School survey ranked IMT-G number nine out of the 335 schools it listed, putting the institute among what's commonly called the "Ivy League" of India's B-Schools.
It's the same rank IMT-G was awarded last year - indeed the school has consistently achieved Top 10 status in surveys.
The Business India survey consisted of a 12-section questionnaire which covered a wide range of topics from campus specializations, pedagogy and curriculum, faculty profiles and library data to student support facilities, industry outreach and international linkages.
A total of 1,000 marks were assigned across the questionnaire, then final marks were determined by a 10-category score sheet, with brand equity accounting for 25 per cent of the final mark; faculty and pedagogy 15 per cent; industry interface, technology use, infrastructure, income and expenditure each assigned 10 per cent and student facilitation, growth, overseas networking and alumni each accounting for five per cent of the final total.
The survey also got views on B-Schools from interested parties such as entrepreneurs, CEOs and professors.
Comments from entrepreneurs included: "The tools and techniques required to transform entrepreneurial students to become real entrepreneurs are missing."
"There is too much of a gap between the curriculum and the business issues."
"Students don't necessarily get the grounding on values and ethics which are very essential for them to be good leaders of the future."
And from CEOs came observations that: "The quality of faculty, the quality of research, the quality of infrastructure - everything has to improve in management education in India."
"The focus has to shift to provide a holistic learning experience."
"B-Schools must focus on creating passionate leaders, teach people skills, goal-setting and values and also help build mindsets."
It's no wonder then that IMT-G scored high.
As Director Dr. Bibek Banerjee has said the institute's full-time faculty is comprised of academics, policy makers, seasoned management leaders and administrators. "Every one of them is committed to ensuring the curriculum at IMT Ghaziabad is cutting-edge and industry relevant. They constantly groom top managers and are regularly involved in executive education - exposing students to the right mix of theory and real world issues."
Dr. Banerjee has said "with our cutting-edge education, we inculcate ethics, introspection and values. Our students understand the importance of attention to details. As they develop into managers, they understand the value of being on time, every time."
"Our student exchange programme is ranked at number one. With over 70 student exchange tie-ups, our students get the right exposure to work in a multi-cultural environment, with strong emphasis on team-based learning methods."
And the Business India survey pointed out there is a "discernible push towards quality" by B-Schools "as they go in for revamping their curriculum, shedding courses, exposing their faculty to peer institutions through teaching, participation in conferences and joint submission of papers at national and international campuses."
The survey also found international accreditation is also on the rise with seven schools already receiving it and nearly 100 pursuing it.
