New Delhi, Delhi, India, Tuesday, June 22, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- Pitney Bowes, a global leader in mailstream and document management solutions in association with Martin Yale GMBH, a leading player in the secured data destruction space announced the launch of 'Degaussers' under the Intimus range. The launch of this product will have immense significance in today's context where secured data destruction is gaining increased importance to ensure non-retrieval of data once it is destroyed or computer systems are disposed.

Digital storage needs maximum protection. High storage capacities and different types of information stored together on digital media are prone to all kinds of data abuse. Modern hard disk drives or magnetic tapes can contain millions of written pages, together with other confidential information like pictures, films, presentation, financial calculations, or even banking data. All these information are secured during use. All deleted or formatted information can potentially be restored. The new Intimus 'Degausser' will ensure that the data is completely destructed and erased from the hard disk making it impossible to restore. According to reports, close to 380,000 tonnes of e-waste was generated in India from discarded computers, televisions and mobile phones in 2007. This figure is expected to rise to 800,000 tonnes by 2012.

Pitney Bowes will distribute the Intimus Degausser's and Crushers from Martin Yale as well as provide accessories, spare parts and after-sales services of the same. The Degaussers and Crushers are used to prevent protected data from being stolen from hard drives when the computers & hard drives are disposed. The range is priced between Rs 7 lakhs to 20 lakhs The intimus range of products will be targeted to the service sectors like Banking, Financial, Insurance, and Telecom besides governments where data security is a critical part of the data management process.
