With over 12 million Indians expected to travel overseas, international travel sector seems to be on a firm uptrend. Passenger traffic has shown gains in March 2010. Industry reports point towards an increase in International passenger traffic, with available seat capacity growing by 2 per cent as compared to March 2009 and the average international passenger load factor reached a new high of 80 per cent. This has also reflected in the overseas travel spends recorded on American Express Cards. While the first quarter of 2010 saw an increase of over 24% as compared to the same period last year, this growth is also 9% higher compared with Q1 of 2008.
Seeing this as an opportunity to reward its Cardmembers, American Express is offering 3 times the rewards points on overseas spends during the peak summer holiday season. This year between May1st - July 31st, Cardmembers can earn 3 Times Membership Rewards Points on all their overseas spends that exceed a spend threshold amount which has been arrived on the basis of the Cardmember spend behaviour. The offer is available on all American Express personal cards.
