Premier Farnell Announces Key Appointments in Greater China and Asia Pacific


Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Tuesday, April 06, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- Premier Farnell, the leading multi-channel, high service distributor supporting millions of engineers and purchasing professionals worldwide, has announced two new appointments in the Asia Pacific region.

Greater China

Edmond Chu is Managing Director for Premier Electronics, a Premier Farnell company in the Greater China region.

With more than 25 years of experience in the global and regional electronics industry, Edmond was formerly the Vice President of Sales, China & Hong Kong at Arrow Asia Pacific Ltd.

Prior to joining Arrow, Edmond served in various professional and management positions at Tektronix, Siemens and AVX/Kyocera. He holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Hong Kong University and a Bachelor in Business Management from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom.

Asia Pacific Regional Management

Athena Wang has been appointed Regional Director of Strategy and Business Development for Premier Farnell in Asia Pacific. In this new role, Athena will be based in Singapore. She will oversee and manage the execution of the company's strategy as well as drive business development into existing and new market segments across the Asia Pacific Region.

Prior to this new appointment, Athena was Managing Director of Premier Electronics, Premier Farnell's Greater China operations. Athena is an experienced professional with more than 18 years' experience in the Asian semiconductor and electronic distribution industry. She holds an MBA from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) from the University of Western Australia. She is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Both appointments were effective as of 1 February 2010 and both executives will to report to Salman Syed, President, Asia Pacific, Premier Farnell.
