New Delhi, Delhi, India, Wednesday, December 16, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- P I Industries Ltd (P I) has been awarded as the winner of the prestigious Green Chemistry Award 2009 in the "MNCs and Large Enterprises Category" in the recently concluded Industrial Green Chemistry Workshop (IGCW) 2009, a premier global event for the industry recently in Mumbai.

The IGC award recognizes outstanding research and initiatives in Green Chemistry and Engineering to promote innovation in cleaner, cheaper, smarter chemistry developments that have been or can be utilized by industry in achieving their pollution prevention goals.

The Green Chemistry technologies can be categorized under use of greener synthetic pathways or use of greener reaction conditions or the design of greener chemicals. The award selection is based on how well the showcased Chemistry meets the selection criteria of Science & innovation, Human health and environmental benefits and Applicability i.e. the nominated chemistry technology should have a significant impact.

PI had submitted projects to showcase technological innovation in the manufacturing process of its agrochemical active ingredients produced by them. The Jury comprising of eminent scientists and world authorities on Green Chemistry appreciated the quality of work done by P I for the significant reduction in emission / effluent by solvent less process and recycling of by-product. Nominees for the IGC award in the "MNC and Large scale Industries category" included P I, Jubilant Organosys, Dr. Reddy's, Atul Industries and Lanxess.
