Sachin Tendulkar is the Man of the Series as per IBM Social Sentiment Index for the Border Gavaskar Test Series
Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Thursday, March 28, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- Ravindra Jadeja emerges as the highest trending bowler and fastest social scorer in the series
During the Border-Gavasker Test series, IBM applied advanced analytics software and natural language processing to cricket to build a social score board for the Indian Players. These Social scores were based on the intensity of the sentiment and volume of online conversations. Over 1.77 lakh posts across a variety of platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the blogging community were analysed during the four match series. Here are the key highlights:
-- Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is the Man of the Series across social networks with a highest social score of 351.
-- Irrespective of his test performance, Tendulkar was the only player who was most popular among fans across all online platforms
-- Public sentiment revolved around his batting performance, his past records, his stature and retirement plans
-- Among the top performers as per the social scores, Tendulkar was followed by Dhoni and Murali Vijay as the top 3 batsmen in the series, whereas R Jadeja, R Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh were the best performing bowlers.
-- During the series, Dhoni the captain scored higher on social sentiment than Dhoni the double centurion
-- After a 4-0 victory over Australia, his overall social score stood at 230
-- Ravindra Jadeja is the highest trending bowler, having increased his social conversations 10 times since the beginning of the series
-- He generated over 73% more social conversations than R Ashwin, the man of series in the tournament.
-- Murali Vijay's social conversations are a clear reflection of his batting performance - every spectacular performance has resulted in 150 - 220% increase in the social chatter during that period.
-- Shikhar Dhawan's debut century in the third Test helped him sustain social conversations even in the last match where he never played
-- However, though Pujara's double ton in the second test had seen a rise in social conversation by 12 folds, his notable performance in the final match failed to generate similar social chatter
-- Of all the posts scanned for social chatter on the game, Facebook dominated social conversations, followed by Twitter and YouTube.

(BW)(FL-CAPLOW-CHILDREN'S)$1 Million Caplow Children's Prize Announced for Saving the Lives of Children
Miami, United States, Thursday, March 28, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) --
The winner of the Caplow Children's Prize will receive $1 million to save the lives of children under age five. The Prize is seeking applications from any person or organization worldwide. The entire application process can be completed online at www.childrensprize.org.
The rules to the Children's Prize are simple: Each applicant must propose a plan to save the lives of children who would otherwise die before age five. The lives to be saved must be in immediate danger, and the identity of the beneficiaries must be provided to the donor after the plan is carried out. Plans should balance credibility with the greatest number of lives to be saved within two years. The winner will receive US $1 million to execute their vision. All submitted materials must be in English.
"The death of a child is a universal tragedy," says engineer and entrepreneur Dr. Ted Caplow, creator of the Children's Prize, "and this contest strives to harness the power of the communications age to create new leverage for philanthropy in this area."
As a recent father of triplets, Dr. Caplow's journey through the world of fetal medicine had a deep impact on him. He and his wife welcomed their triplets at 34 weeks gestation with only minor complications, yet the babies still spent a combined total of two months in intensive care. Struck by the enormous concentration of resources - medical, financial, and human - that were drawn into the survival of these babies, Dr. Caplow decided to make child mortality his philanthropic focus.
In 2011, almost seven million children around the world died before their fifth birthday from preventable causes such as malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia, malnutrition, or infection. Prize applicants can include medical clinics, NGO's, municipalities, schools, scientists, doctors, community leaders, etc. Emerging online tools for social connectivity will play a critical role in selecting finalists and verifying results.
The Children's Prize will be accepting Entry Forms until May 1, 2013. Rising Awareness to Promote Steady Growth of Media Asset Management in India, Finds Frost & Sullivan
Increasing digitization of tape-based workflows and knowledge about enhanced value proposition to drive uptake levels
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Thursday, March 28, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- The Indian media and entertainment (M&E) industry has started to accept the concept of media asset management, and is slowly, but gradually increasing its adoption. There are about 18 strong vendors that offer solutions for media asset management (MAM) needs of broadcast, production, and other media companies.
As the magnitude of media files that broadcasters have to manage on a regular basis increases, the need for applications that enable the management, acquisition, authoring and editing, deep indexing, meta tagging, querying and retrieving, manipulation, annotation and display, and repurposing of media assets also rises. This will be the most important driver for an increasing demand for MAM solutions.
New analysis from Frost & Sullivan (http://www.digitalmedia.frost.com), Analysis of the Media Asset Management Market in India, finds that the market earned $3.5 million in 2012 and estimates this to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 15 percent till 2018.
Indian broadcasters who have implemented MAM solutions believe that new adopters would be attracted to simplified and standardized solutions that would reduce complexity and enhance reliability. Increasing awareness for MAM among key decision-makers in the broadcasting segment will also bolster the demand for such solutions.
Frost & Sullivan finds that the laborious process of digitizing tape-based workflow that has to be done prior to MAM deployment is also seen as a challenge to market advancement. Nonetheless, digitization of tape-based archive content tops Indian broadcasters' agendas and will continue to do so for the next 24 months.
"Digitization of a tape-based ecosystem in the Indian television industry has encouraged broadcasters to adopt file-based workflows in their production-supply ecosystem," noted the Frost & Sullivan Digital Media Analyst. "As a result, broadcasters and content creators have an expanding file-based repository of video content. To manage, streamline, and repurpose such content, solutions such as MAM are essential. This represents a significant opportunity."
However, the high costs associated with international MAM products, together with the heightened price sensitivity of Indian consumers, has encouraged local vendors to develop low-cost, customized MAM solutions. These frequently do not conform to standards used by international vendors and, moreover, lead to high industry fragmentation.
Frost & Sullivan's analysis finds that while there are several local vendors burgeoning to cater to MAM requirements among broadcasters, there continues to be a higher demand for "tried and tested" solutions.
"In order to tap the potential of the Indian MAM market to the fullest, international vendors will need to collaborate with Indian system integrators to ramp up marketing and training on MAM benefits, without which end users will not be convinced of its value proposition," concluded the analyst. "While international vendors stand to gain with critical partnerships with companies that can help identify specific client requirements, local vendors will have to increase their brand equity with an expanded product portfolio as well as customer enlightenment."

(BW)(DAMAC-PROPERTIES)DAMAC Towers by Paramount Sells Out Phase One on Opening Night
Luxury Serviced Residences Snapped Up During First Launch Event
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Thursday, March 28, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) --
The first phase of DAMAC Towers by Paramount, a luxury hotel and serviced residences in the Burj Khalifa Area of Dubai, has sold out the first phase during an exclusive invite-only launch event.

More than 1,000 investors were in attendance at the IMAX cinema at Meydan Hotel for the 'premiere' of the US$1 billion development. Executives hailed the evening as one of the most successful launches since the Dubai property market resurgence of the past twelve months.
Clients came from as far afield as the UK, KSA, Lebanon, India, Nigeria and Russia.
Developed by Damac Properties, the region's leading luxury private developer, in partnership with Paramount Hotel & Resorts (PHR-FZ-LLC), the project offers an ambience and reflection of the Hollywood glamour and California cool lifestyle, synonymous with Paramount Pictures over the past 101 years.
"We were blown away with the positive response from clients looking to make their home in one of the most anticipated projects in Dubai," said Ziad El Chaar, Managing Director, DAMAC Properties. "This is without doubt the biggest launch event in Dubai in the past five years, highlighting the strength in the market, especially in luxury branded serviced living."
A recent report by Knight Frank showed that projects in Dubai associated with luxury brands are demanding nearly 60 per cent more value than non-branded projects in the same area. The report added that: 'it seems likely that as global wealth creation expands, the demand for high-quality, branded residential developments in key global centres will undoubtedly rise.'
DAMAC Properties has already secured approval from RERA, TECOM, and DTCM and the plot of land has been fully paid for. All funds received from the initial unit sales have gone into the Escrow account, specifically tied to the project.
"Residents in the Middle East love going to the movies and enjoy the escapism, anticipation and fantasy that the experience offers," said Thomas van Vliet, Chief Executive Officer, PHR FZ-LLC. "The Paramount Hotels & Resorts Hotel, luxury serviced residences and DAMAC Maison serviced apartments provide that experience in a high-class and stylish manner. The project will bring guests and residents closer to their favourite movies and actors, while creating a refined environment to escape and relax."
The four towers which make up 'DAMAC Towers by Paramount' are brought together with a multi level plaza, offering a selection of themed food & beverage concepts, meeting & events facilities, a screening room, wellness & fitness centres, swimming pools, 24-hour kids club, retail, and merchandise all featuring the Paramount brand or select partner brands. Each tower stretches over 250 metres into the air.
DAMAC Properties have announced they will release the second phase of apartments during a road show in India and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The company will now host events in Mumbai and Delhi on 5 April 2013 and in Jeddah and Riyadh in KSA on 6 April 2013. There will be further events in Dammam and Mecca on 7 April 2013. Interested parties can register for the events at www.damacproperties.com.
The one, two and three bedroom serviced hotel residences will be managed by DAMAC Maison, the hospitality division of DAMAC Properties.

Chairman Flags Off Mobile Hospital in Bengaluru
Community Investment dedicated to the city of the India Hawk
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, Tuesday, March 26, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- BAE Systems Chairman Dick Olver today flagged off a mobile mini hospital called 'Smile on Wheels' that will provide primary healthcare services to underserved communities in the city. The mini hospital is part of the Company's Corporate Responsibility programme in India through which it supports development programmes in the areas of primary education and healthcare in rural and urban communities across seven states of the country. For this, BAE Systems has partnered with Smile Foundation, a national level development organization with an outreach of over 200,000 underprivileged children, women and youth across 25 Indian states.
The Chairman is leading the BAE Systems Board's first visit to India, one of its five key markets. Accompanying the Board is Guy Griffiths, Group Managing Director - International, Dean McCumiskey, Managing Director and Chief Executive - India, and a number of Company leaders.
The ceremony, held at BAeHAL Limited, an engineering services and business solutions Joint Venture between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and BAE Systems (40%), also saw Mr. Ian King, CEO, BAE Systems plc, hand over the keys of the mobile mini hospital to Smile Foundation's Chief Operating Officer Vikram Singh Verma and Director and CEO of Bangalore Baptist Hospital Dr. Alexander Thomas. Bangalore Baptist Hospital is responsible for the implementation of the 'Smile on Wheels' programme.
Richard Olver, Chairman, BAE Systems plc, said: "The India Community Investment programme in India is a fine demonstration of our shared global value of investing actively in the communities in which work, including supporting social development. This healthcare programme is dedicated to the city of Bengaluru, the home of the India Hawk and the country's aerospace sector which is spearheaded by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, with whom we have the privilege of a strong, trusted relationship borne of our longstanding collaboration on the Hawk programme."
BAE Systems' support to the purpose-built Mobile Medical Unit enables underserved urban communities in Bengaluru to avail doorstep access to a team of doctors and nurses and state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities such as X-Ray, ECG, IV fluid transmission and basic pathological testing. The programme also envisages setting up referral linkages with local hospitals as well as a establishing a Community Health Fund to become self-sustaining over the long-term. In the first year of operations, the outreach of the Mobile Medical Unit is estimated at over 20,000 people.
Vikram Singh Verma, Chief Operating Officer, Smile Foundation, said: "This new Smile on Wheels is an excellent addition to our existing fleet of 23 mobile health units and enables a further expansion of our programme in Karnataka. The success of the Smile on Wheels model lies in its accessibility, availability and affordability for target populations with a special focus on children and women. With this, we are happy to deepen our partnership with BAE Systems as well as join hands with Bangalore Baptist Hospital who have an excellent track record of delivering community health services. I am confident that over time, the benefits of this programme will extend far beyond health services and lead to a measurable all-round improvement in the health-seeking behaviours of the communities it serves."
Dr. Alexander Thomas, Director and CEO, Bangalore Baptist Hospital, said: "Bangalore Baptist Hospital has been serving the poor and underprivileged with quality, ethical medical care for the past 40 years. We have been able to overcome the barriers of financial and physical inaccessibility to health care through our outreach services. We are indeed very happy to partner the Smile Foundation in their "Smile of Wheels" project that would further strengthen our efforts. We also thank BAE Systems for their support".

Janalakshmi and Manipal Launch Janalakshmi-Manipal Institute of Financial Inclusion
Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Tuesday, March 26, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- Janalakshmi Financial Services Pvt. Ltd.(JFS) and Manipal Global Education Services (MaGE) announced today the launch of Janalakshmi-Manipal Institute of Financial Inclusion(JMIFI), that was formally inaugurated at Bangalore, by Shri. Ajay Maken, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India.
Today, with the growing urbanization, the country is facing a unique challenge where the requirement is to train approximately 500 million youth joining the labour force by 2020, while current capacities can only provide training to 10% of this number. Therefore, there is a need to create scalable and sustainable solutions that can address the demand-supply mismatch. The initiative by JFS, a pioneering urban financial inclusion services company, and MaGE, a well-known leader in the field of end-to-end integrated learning & training services to enterprises in India, is significant, in this context.
MaGE has launched several such joint initiatives with leading banks and financial institutions. This is however, the first time that MaGE has entered into a similar tie-up with a microfinance institution focused on delivering comprehensive financial services to the financially excluded. The current programme has been designed for newly inducted staff, as a 3-week residential program covering all aspects of basic delivery of services to the financially excluded. The course covers statutory and industry guidelines along with specific feature of products offered and processes followed in JFS. Soft skills and personality development of the trainees are also provided for. The training will be conducted in vernacular, and jointly by trainers from JFS and faculty of MaGE. The programme structure also includes field visits in which the trainees will visit local markets to meet potential customers and also branches of JFS. Faculty from MaGE and members from JFS team will accompany JFS trainees for the field visits.
Upon successful completion of the training programme, the candidates will be issued a certificate entitled "Certificate in Basic Inclusive Financial Services" by the Janalakshmi-Manipal Institute of Financial Inclusion. Over time, the programme will be expanded both in terms of content and timing, to reflect the growing demands of the organisation and the sector. Close to 1000 employees of JFS are likely to undergo this programme on an annual basis at Bangalore, Maharashtra and National Capital Region.
Launching the Janalakshmi-Manipal Institute of Financial Inclusion, Shri. Ajay Maken, Hon'ble Union Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India said "The fast pace of urbanization of India is throwing up interesting opportunities as well as challenges. Financial inclusion of the migrating population, affordable housing, slum upgradation and prevention, skilling or re-skilling of unemployed/underemployed population and creation of employment opportunities for the youth coming to the urban centres are some of the key challenges that we need to address on an urgent basis.
The Government of India has launched various initiatives including the setting up of the National Skills Development Corporation, National Skills Mission and the National Urban Livelihoods Mission. However, the Government is conscious of the fact that in order to successfully implement such initiatives, the Government has to enable, encourage and partner with non-government players for achieving scale and long-term sustainability. It is in this context that this initiative undertaken by Janalakshmi Financial Services and Manipal Global Education Services is extremely significant. This collaboration is expected to achieve the triple objectives of skill development, employment and financial inclusion of the youth that the Government is focused on."
Shri. M. Lakshminarayana, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Housing Department, Government of Karnataka, commented that "The Central and the State Governments have taken up several initiatives to address these issues of skilling and employment of the youth. In the State of Karnataka, which is one of the better off States with relatively lower rate of unemployment, the Government of Karnataka through the Department of Employment and Training and Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation Ltd (KVTSDC) have driven various initiatives like Sahayog, E-learning Labs, Karnataka Placement Cell, Margadarshi, Udyogadarshi to deliver the target of training about one lakh people through Industrial Training Institutes, Industrial Training Centres (ITCs)and Vocational Training Providers. KVTSDC is to train one lakh fifty thousand people and around one lakh people have to be placed though Job fairs and Human Resource Development Councils (HRDCs). The State Government is actively encouraging private institutions to participate in programmes to further scale these initiatives.
We are happy to see private institutions like Janalakshmi Financial Services and Manipal Global Education Services coming together to contribute to the efforts of the Central and State governments".
Mr. Ramesh Ramanathan, Chairman, JFS said, "We are happy to start this programme in association with Manipal Global Education Services. We see this institute addressing two critical challenges of urbanising India - financial inclusion and good quality employment. Most of our employees we hire have qualifications of only 12th standard, and don't have degree certificates. Their career prospects are therefore limited in the formal sector. This programme is aimed at providing the necessary skills for our newly appointed employees to grow in the organisation. Simultaneously, the programme helps address the massive challenge of financial inclusion in our cities, because it is through these staff that we are able to bring a range of financial services to the under-served sections of our cities".
Adding to this, Mr. S. Vaitheeswaran, MD & CEO, Manipal Global Education Services said, "We are delighted to enter into this alliance with Janalakshmi Financial Services. The 3 week residential programme will equip JFS employees with requisite soft and behavioural skills and with working knowledge required to serve the needs of the financially excluded citizens of India. The course will also cover guidelines relevant to Microfinance Industry, along with specific features of products offered and processes followed at Janalakshmi. Manipal Global Education offers the scale and expertise to set up full-fledged collaborative programs to train employees across multiple levels in an organization, thus building a captive talent pool for participating enterprises. The innovative and customized programs developed by MaGE helps enterprises get first-day-first-hour productive talent, thus eliminating the need for expensive hiring for the employers. This new initiative with Janalakshmi reinforces the role of MaGE as the leading end-to-end integrated learning & training services provider in India".
Janalakshmi Group has been focused on promoting a platform for urban livelihoods, in collaboration with varied stakeholders in the sector including government, enablers and skill providers, to build skills that enable access to growing market-based job opportunities offered by emerging urban economies. The setting up of JMIFI is a step forward for JFS to build a scalable model in urban livelihoods, within the financial inclusion sector.

BWI: Capco Outlines 'Industrialisation Imperative' for Global Financial Services

(BW)(CAPCO)Capco Outlines 'Industrialisation Imperative' for Global Financial Services
"If you want to make it in the years ahead, you have to stop 'making it all' today," according to a new report from Capco. Instead, industrialise non-core activity. Focus totally on product and service innovation. Maximise delivery efficiency.
London, United Kingdom, Tuesday, March 26, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) --
Capco, a global business and technology consultancy dedicated solely to the financial services industry, today shared its vision of an industrialised path to increased ROE, uptake of surplus banking capacity and return to sustainably profitable banking business. Capco is part of FIST (NYSE:FIS), the world's largest global provider dedicated to banking and payments technologies.
Rob Heyvaert, CEO and Founder of Capco and Corporate Executive Vice President of FIS says: "To return to the ROE levels of 15% historically required by investors, banks must now seize the chance to address deep structural issues. Growth opportunity and sustainable value creation demand fresh approaches."
Stephen O'Sullivan, a Europe-based Partner with Capco, comments: "Banks can no longer do it all, if you want to make it in the years ahead, you have to stop 'making it all' today. Look long and hard at existing services and processes. Then identify areas that external expertise and technology can handle more efficiently."
O'Sullivan adds: "Headcount reduction and tactical cost cutting are no longer sufficient to achieve healthy cost/income ratios. Nor will they enable the break-through innovation demanded to access the unbanked and emerging wealth - crucial to achieve uptake of the sector's current excess capacity. It is estimated that one of the top eight global banks could be taken entirely out of the equation yet leave enough capacity to meet existing customer demand."
However, Capco believes that financial institutions enjoy significant advantages, even as the threat of new mobile and social media entrants becomes a reality. While financial services lag behind other major industry sectors when it comes to streamlining processes and collaboration models with partners, the industry does have invaluable experience dealing with data and privacy protection, as well as the burden of ever-evolving regulation. Capco considers that by re-addressing fundamental operating models, institutions can develop more efficient platforms to compete with new entrants in tapping the huge unbanked and wealth in emerging markets opportunities.
What can banks do now? Capco's vision of an industrialised bank is one that 'does the right things in the right way.' Cost cutting will no longer be tactical and reactive, but rational and productive. Costs, earnings, capital and growth will be better aligned to create more sustainable business models. Straight-through processing will create a highly efficient environment, with low or no-touch, day-to-day processing and predictable compliance. Transformation will come from addressing the front office and change functions, not restricting change to the back office and infrastructure. The resulting streamlined structures will deliver what a new generation of demanding customers want from financial services: personalised and responsive innovation.
How urgent is the task? "It's very urgent," says Ido Gileadi, a North America- based Partner with Capco. "Financial Services is now a very attractive proposition for new competitors outside traditional industry boundaries. These newcomers don't have the baggage of legacy structures and technologies. They are highly innovative. They come from areas such as retail, telecoms and digital media. They won't just adopt and evolve conventional banking models. They have the innovative flexibility to reach the unbanked and the huge wealth in emerging markets."
Now, some 150 years after it first impacted manufacturing, the industrialisation imperative is here to stay. The opportunity for transformation is real. Staying competitive will need new partners and capabilities offering true breadth of financial technology assets along with deep industry expertise.

(BW)(INTELLIGENT-ENERGY)Intelligent Energy Reports Highest Power Densities Yet for Automotive Fuel Cells
London, United Kingdom, Tuesday, March 26, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) --
Intelligent Energy has announced that its proprietary fuel cell technology is providing leading levels of power output and performance for a number of its automotive customers, with the company's fuel cell stacks demonstrating continuous volumetric and gravimetric power densities of 3.7 kW/L and 2.5 kW/kg, respectively.

"We believe that our fuel cell stack technology has achieved industry leading power density performance. These interim results are only part way along our technology roadmap and much more is still to come with further improvements in the pipeline", Intelligent Energy's Motive Division Managing Director, James Batchelor commented. "Importantly, we deliver these benchmark performance levels using our own patented technology which has been designed for high volume, low-cost manufacturing. We provide our technology to existing clients as they progress towards series production and continue to work with new automotive customers and OEMs under a variety of commercial arrangements" he added.
Intelligent Energy is a global leader in fuel cell design and development, with a range of high performance, compact, cost-effective and scalable technology focused on its target market sectors. In 2012, the company formed a joint venture in Japan with the Suzuki Motor Corporation to manufacture fuel cells for a range of automotive and other sectors. In February of this year, within 12 months of its incorporation, the joint venture, SMILE FC System, announced the completion of the first ready-to-scale production line.
Dr Henri Winand, Chief Executive at Intelligent Energy, said: "Power-dense power sources are critical in a range of applications across our automotive, consumer electronics and stationary power markets. In particular, fuel cell electric vehicles provide one of the most practical and efficient means of reducing road transport carbon emissions where powerful yet efficient power systems are much needed. Developing class leading technology designed for series manufacture offers our customers reduced time-to-market and lower scale-up risks. It clearly demonstrates that our fuel cells are ready for the automotive industry and other mass markets."
