Aksh Optifibre Limited [BSE: 532351 | NSE: AKSHOPTFBR], has successfully concluded the plantation of over 15,000 saplings in Bhiwadi which houses the company’s largest production plant. The phase I of the plantation drive was started in June, 14 aimed at creating a “Green and Clean” Bhiwadi city with the cooperation of industries operating in Bhiwadi Industrial Area. Due to the overwhelming response and support from citizens and the local industry body, the company has further extended its pledge and hopes to plant over 100,000 saplings in the next five years.
Since Bhiwadi Industrial Area is amongst the highest polluted industrial areas of the country, owing to a large number of steel refineries in the area, the objective of the drive is to make people and industries aware about the negative effects of pollution on the environment and how with a bit of collective effort, a lot could be done to preserve it. Industrial pollution in these areas has been negatively affecting the land, air and water of quality of the region and therefore acting as a hazard on the health of local citizens and communities around the area. Many schools, colleges, prominent social workers and people living in villages near the industrial area are actively supporting the ongoing drive.

This time we have launched two dedicated initiatives namely “Upvan” for the tree plantation initiative and “Muskan” to make an impact on the socio-environmental setting of Bhiwadi. We are also glad to have received overwhelming support from the local industry bodies such as Bhiwadi Manufacturer’s Association (BMA), RIICO, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Bharat Vikas Parishad, Shantigiri and other industry bodies active in the region. Drive partners helped in procurement of resources (trees, water, consultancy etc) and took responsibility of planting and taking care of newly planted trees”.
At the start of the New Year, the company has also adopted the “Santhalka Primary School” near its manufacturing plant in Bhiwadi and has already started work on the renovations of the school buildings and playground, distribution of winter uniforms to the children and provision of clean toilets, especially for the girls of the school. The company is also taking care of the provision of clean drinking water to the children of the school. Apart from the developmental work being initiated for the school, the company has also setup a state-of-the-art computer lab for the students where they can hone their computer skills and be future ready with the aid of technology. We are hoping to reduce the number the children dropping out of schools in this area so that they may complete at least basic primary education. Efforts need to be made at the primary level itself in order to create perspective amongst the children and their families so that they may continue their education further. This is our effort in ensuring that this momentum is created at the grass root levels”.
