Indian Company Sets World Record in Africa

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Saturday, September 29, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- KIBOKO Group of Companies today created the world's largest carpet from medicated soaps. Witnessed, judged and recorded by representatives of LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS, this carpet was made from 350,000 bars of soap which will now be distributed among school going kids. The record not only marked the company's 20th anniversary but also the launch of a health and sanitation campaign covering over 200 schools across Uganda.

Speaking about this achievement and the company's ongoing CSR initiatives, Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, CEO, Kiboko enterprise, said "It is a moment of great pride for us. The youth here are affected by generally preventable diseases like cholera and diarrhea which can be avoided by simply following basic hygiene habits, like washing hands regularly with soap and taking a bath daily." Committed to making a difference, the Group's social responsibility intends to contribute to 'Health and Education', which are the two priority sectors for most developing nations.

Arthy Muthanna Singh, senior editor, Limca Book of Records, said Kiboko Group's record was first of its kind. She declared that it will be recorded as the world's largest soap carpet.

"This is like a sea of soaps. I have never seen so many soaps at a time," Rebecca Kadaga, speaker of Ugandan Parliament, said while referring to the soaps spread on the shores of Lake Victoria on Friday.

Kadaga lauded the contributions of Indian entrepreneurs and business people in Ugandan economy. "Kiboko have played a very important role in Ugandan economy. They are creating employment opportunities and contributing to the economy directly and indirectly," she said.

Indian companies like Kiboko are setting trends in social responsibilities in Africa and Kiboko's effort has been endorsed by the Ministry of Education and one of the highest government office of The Rt. Hon Speaker of the PARLIAMENT OF UGANDA.

The celebration witnessed a stellar performance by Grace Nakimera who composed and executed a corporate anthem for Kiboko Group of companies. The afro pop singer and song writer delivered Hindi lines with ease as she enthralled the audience at Speke Resort Munyonyo

Kiboko Group of companies has diversified interest in Manufacturing and Distribution representing multiple sectors including Pharmaceutical, FMCG, and Consumer Durables & Engineering Projects for some global brands like Procter & Gamble, Phillips etc.

New Delhi to Host India's First and Largest Ever Multistakeholder Discourse on Internet Governance
60 of the best minds from India and 12 other countries will engage in an open, consultative, multistakeholder dialogue on a range of issue that impact the future of internet in India

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Saturday, September 29, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- FICCI, Ministry of Communications & IT and ISOC are hosting India's first internet governance conference titled India Internet Governance Conference (IIGC) 2012. The theme of the conference is "Internet for Social and Economic Development: Building the Future Together". The conference would be attended by over 350 delegates and will see participation from over 60 speakers representing 12 countries.

At the curtain raiser to launch the India Internet Governance Conference (IIGC) 2012 to be held in New Delhi on October 4th and 5th, Telecom Minister Shri Kapil Sibal and DoT Secretary Shri Chandrashekhar sought "balanced views representing consensus across stakeholders who will discuss the future implications of governance and policy that will shape the Internet in the future.

-- The conference will see thoughtful key notes, enlightened conversations, high octane debates, informed discussions, evolved and opinionated panels across 14 sessions, discussing issues that range from net neutrality, to balancing cyber security, data protection and privacy, to making broadband accessible to all, to global internet Governance models

-- FICCI, the Ministry of Communications & IT, and Internet Society will host India's first comprehensive multi stakeholder India Internet Governance Conference (IIGC 2012) with the theme - Internet for Social and Economic Development: Building the Future Together in New Delhi

-- The India Internet Governance Conference (IIGC) 2012 aims at promoting internet policy dialogue for improved governance for imparting innovation, creativity and business opportunity and to maximize internet penetration and adoption.

-- It will engage with and understand the state of current policy dialogue on Internet Governance in India.

Shri Kapil Sibal, Hon'ble, Minister for Communications & IT urged that participants at the conference should "peep into the future and settle the present, where issues of internet governance is concerned". He said, "There should be no formal government interference in the dissemination of information through the media which is perhaps the quintessential representative of democracy in the world." It is clear that India needs a modicum of consensus which must evolve through honest, open, dialogue with all the key stakeholders.

From the conference outcome we are looking for a consensus which will lay a road map for the future. Highlighting the need for greater public consultation", Secretary DOT, R. Chandrashekhar said. "While internationally the multi-dimensions of the problem and views is well recognized, perhaps in India we have not had as intense, as frequent and heavily participative discussions. That phase is just beginning", he added.

Virat Bhatia, Chairman, Communication and Digital Economy Committee, FICCI concluded that "India's position on internet governance is pivotal and we expect that the conference will help build consensus to inform further policy dialogue."

The immediate background to the conference is the release of the National Telecom Policy 2012 (NTP 2012) where the internet and broadband have earned recognition as key drivers of economic and social development, along with telecom, in an increasingly knowledge-intensive global environment in which India aims to play a leadership role.

This event will follow the format provided by the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) - an annual global event. The Conference aims to provide a platform for an open and inclusive policy dialogue that involves government, business, civil society, the technical community and academia. It will traverse a wide range of topics: from network neutrality, to global internet governance models; from effective management of the transition to IPv6, to making broadband access available to all; from balancing cyber security to data protection and privacy to the challenges the internet poses to traditional media, to the challenges hate speech online poses for all. This conference will bring together multiple sources of knowledge and expertise from within India and outside.

The IIGC 2012 thus aims to identify crucial emerging issues at a domestic and global level and flag these for the attention of relevant Indian bodies, as well as help expand India's existing internet governance capacity. The timing of the conference also allows for a discussion ahead of the IGF in Baku in November 2012, and the World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT) in Dubai in December 2012. The objective is to ensure that that the dialogue will not stop with this event. As experiments elsewhere have shown, national Internet Governance Forums related processes can be a key avenue through which to foster dialogue and engagement across stakeholders and to develop robust national internet governance policies that find broad acceptance amongst the citizenry. The IIGC, and the budding multi stakeholder organisational processes that feed into it, will hopefully be only the beginning of such a long-term engagement in India, that ultimately will result in a full-fledged India IGF in future years.

This conference is being hosted in New Delhi at FICCI, Federation House, Tansen Marg. Participation is free. All stake-holders are welcome to attend. Seats are limited. Please register online.

"Today's organizations face a wide range of IT challenges including end point security, regulatory compliance, server management and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), which can make it difficult for resource strapped IT teams to provide the services and responsiveness that their businesses are demanding," said Lubos Parobek, vice president of product for Dell KACE. "The Dell KACE K1000 Management Appliance provides a highly cost effective computer management solution to help organizations improve endpoint security and achieve regulatory compliance rapidly and without a steep learning curve."

Dell KACE's appliance-based approach brings improved security and better regulatory compliance to companies of all sizes. In addition to expanded OS support, some of the new key features and functionality include:

-- New OS Support
Extended OS support for Windows 8, Mac OS X Mountain Lion, Red Hat 6, Ubuntu and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2, and for Windows Server 2012 and existing and legacy Windows and Mac OSX versions, as well as SUSE Linux Enterprises and Red Hat Enterprise Linux enables IT to support multiple operating systems in a secure and scalable way. Multi-object reporting offers more powerful insights into the state of the IT infrastructure enabling IT administrators to report on multiple criteria thereby allowing them to view insightful correlations between different aspects of the IT infrastructure like patching schedules, software versions, hardware etc.

Dell KACE partners and customers herald the new version of KACE K1000 Appliance:

"SUSE today maintains deep relationships with major hardware partners such as Dell. In fact, more than 13,500 hardware, storage and networking devices are certified and supported on SUSE Linux Enterprise," said Phillip Cockrell, global alliance director, SUSE. "We're pleased to see that Dell KACE supports Linux in the K1000 Management Appliance so our joint customers can improve end point security in both mixed and Linux-based IT environments."

"The technology landscape is becoming more and more diversified as IT departments increasingly see the value in open source operating systems, a trend that's evident in the growing enterprise adoption of Ubuntu. To manage these environments, IT teams need reliable ways of supporting multiple operating systems in a secure and scalable way, which Dell KACE will clearly help deliver," said Mark Murphy, director of global alliances for Canonical.

"Our IT team was fighting fires daily in order to keep our systems up and running which didn't leave us lot of time to effectively address other critical IT initiatives," said Aaron Weinberg, director of information technology for The Kirlin Group. BWI: CA Technologies Reports Digital Literacy Key to Driving Revenue

Press release from Business Wire India

CA Technologies Reports Digital Literacy Key to Driving Revenue
CIOs Can Play a Vital Role in Educating Business Leaders

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Friday, September 28, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- Business leaders must embrace the true value of technology according to CA Technologies (NASDAQ:CA) global 'The Future Role of the CIO; Digital Literacy' report. The study reveals that 84 percent of the North American CIOs interviewed believe a lack of digital literacy amongst senior executives could be hampering business growth.

CIOs fear senior-level digital illiteracy is causing a lack of market responsiveness, missed business and investment opportunities, poor competitiveness and slower time to market. Further, a fifth (22 percent) of the CIOs interviewed believed that the C-suite does not understand the impact of new and emerging technologies.

A company that is getting the strategic leadership piece right is Jaguar Land Rover. "CIOs have to find radically different ways to move very quickly and spend low amounts of money to get to a position where they can demonstrate something of worth to the business," said Jeremy Vincent, CIO of Jaguar Land Rover.

He believes CIOs are well positioned to identify strategic business thinking from an IT perspective. But, to do this successfully will take leadership, innovation and a holistic view of technology and the business.

The report also highlights that 44 percent of CIOs believe senior executives see do not understand the potential of IT to grow the business, make processes more efficient, and introduce greater agility and competitiveness.

As a result, it is not surprising that only 43 percent of CIOs globally are involved in the strategic decision making process, impeding the digital strategic thinking of the senior leadership team.

Professor Joe Peppard, Director of the Information Systems Research Centre at Cranfield School of Management, believes senior managers must acknowledge that the value from IT comes not from technology, but from the ability to manage and exploit information. "A lot of organisations just wouldn't be able to survive for very long without their IT systems," says Peppard.

"CIOs are transitioning into the role of brokers of IT services. They will also be orchestrators of decisions concerning the architecture of the enterprise, innovation with IT, compliance and policies, and will have closer involvement with line of business managers in realizing value from their digital strategies," he continued.

Peppard believes that by working in this way, both the IT organization and the CIO role will evolve and be able to lead discussions and education about how they drive the business forward through IT innovation.

"CIOs are in a good position to become more involved in strategic discussions. This will enable them to demonstrate how a particular digital strategy or project can deliver value, and win the credibility to take it forward," Peppard concluded.

Vincent agrees, noting, "[CIOs] need to be able to stand their ground, show people they have an opinion and be able to demonstrate business value and understanding."

"We regularly work with CIOs to help ensure they have the tools they need to communicate value effectively to the business," said John Michelsen, chief technology officer, CA Technologies. "We see CIOs becoming more involved with their business colleagues and communicating the value of technology more effectively."

"CIOs are much more in tune with their businesses than they were ten or twenty years ago; however, they are fighting the belief that technology can create process efficiencies, but it can never deliver value on its own," he added.

To download and read the complete research report, visit http://www.ca.com/digitalliteracy.

About the Research Methodology

CA Technologies commissioned independent specialist technology market research company Vanson Bourne to undertake the research upon which the report is based. 685 telephone interviews were conducted amongst CIOs in organisations of 500 or more employees in the telecommunications, retail, financial and manufacturing sectors. In each of the following countries, 30 CIOS were interviewed: UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Benelux, Austria/Switzerland, Israel, the Nordics, Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Canada. An additional100 interviews were conducted in the USA and 15 were interviewed in Portugal.

BWI: As India’s Water Woes Increase, Desalination Emerges as a Sustainable Solution, Finds Frost & Sullivan

Press release from Business Wire India
Source: Frost & Sullivan

As India's Water Woes Increase, Desalination Emerges as a Sustainable Solution, Finds Frost & Sullivan
Urbanization plays a major role in bringing desalination into focus

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Friday, September 28, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- The rapid industrial development in India is escalating demand for fresh water in the increasingly water-stressed country. Owing to India's large coastline, desalination is considered one of the most viable water supply alternatives.

New analysis from Frost & Sullivan (http://www.environmental.frost.com), Analysis of Growth Opportunities in the Indian Desalination Market, finds that the market earned revenues of INR 1.12 billion in 2011 and estimates this to reach INR 7.48 billion in 2015.

The desalination market is in its growth stage and has substantial opportunities for the next ten years, as industries such as power, refineries, and chemicals are adopting efficient and sustainable technologies for the supply of fresh water.

Apart from industrialization, economic diversification and urbanization make a robust case for desalination. Urban centers account for more than 30 percent of the total population of India and the rate of urbanization is estimated to be 2.5 percent during 2010-2015. This directly translates to declining per capita water availability.

"Mumbai has high per capita water consumption, while the demand for water in Chennai is expected to increase four times by 2025," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst. "As both Mumbai and Chennai are located near the coast; desalination is deemed the most feasible option."

However, despite the large market for desalination, plant owners have to depend on external financing agents such as national and foreign banks. This slows down the financial approval process for municipal projects and therefore, the market as a whole.

With appropriate government initiatives and legislations on water treatment and private partnerships, the desalination market is expected to pick up steam after 2012. The market will get a leg up from larger government funds, municipal desalination projects, and coastal industry power projects.

"Reliability, efficiency, and technical experience are the other key factors considered by end users while choosing desalination suppliers," noted the Analyst. "A company that provides end-to-end solutions and lowers the operational and energy consumption cost to the end-user will occupy a central position in Indian market."

Brickwork Finance Academy Announces Session on "Understanding True Value of a Firm"

Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Thursday, September 27, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- Brickwork Finance Academy announces session on "Understanding True Value of a Firm" at its campus in Kalena Agrahara, Bannerghatta Road, on Saturday, September 29, 2012 between 2.00 to 5.00 pm.

"Good companies are not necessarily Good Investment".

A variety of factors like an investors' investment objective, investor time horizon, risk appetite, liquidity preference need to drive investment choices made.

In addition, corporations need to be evaluated both internally and externally to determine whether they would facilitate the ultimate goal of wealth maximization for investors.
The decision pertaining to what qualifies as a "good" investment or a "bad" investment is not always easy. Markets are very dynamic and continuous monitoring of fundamental and technical factors is required.

The session on Company Valuation is an attempt to address some of the aspects that need to be considered while investing in a company's stock and would cover the following:

-- Understanding Firms: Lessons from Warren Buffet

-- Company Valuation Models: The Quantitative Approach
- Dividend Discount Model
- P/E - EPS Approach
- Discounted Cash Flow Method

-- Company SWOT: The Qualitative Approach

-- Case Study

The session is part of promoting financial literacy and discussions amongst interested professionals.

QASymphony Seeks Beta Users for New Test Management Application
Cloud-based qTest provides simple, scalable solution for managing testing activities and artifacts

Dublin, California, United States, Thursday, September 27, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- QASymphony (www.qasymphony.com), a leading developer of Quality Management solutions, today announced it is releasing a beta of qTest, a cloud-based software testing management application. qTest organizes and streamlines the testing process with the goal of creating reliable market-ready applications. The qTest application is ideal for small and growing QA teams that need to find a low-cost and easy path towards formalizing their quality control procedures.

qTest provides a highly flexible and collaborative work environment for teams to manage requirements, design test cases, plan test execution, track defects, and generate status and quality-metrics reports.

QASymphony's goal with qTest is to provide a SaaS solution that is comparable to enterprise-class test managers such as the likes of HP Quality Center, yet is low in cost, simple to use, and flexible enough to accommodate small agile teams of several testers as well as large sophisticated test teams with mature processes.

"We highly encourage the software development community to sign up and get a free account," says Vu Lam, CEO, QASymphony. "Try out qTest and see how it could help you be more efficient and effective and get more visibility into your application's quality. Sign up takes less than five minutes so please don't hesitate."

qTest has been in closed beta for the past six months and arrives with robust functionality and pre-built integration with popular development lifecycle tools and defect tracking systems. Some of the qTest features and modules include:

-- Test Planning
-- Requirement management
-- Test case management
-- Test cycle management
-- Defect tracking
-- Dashboards and Reports
-- Built in workflows and collaboration

qTest integrates with VersionOne, Fogbugz, Jira, and Bugzilla defect trackers as alternatives to the application's built-in defect tracking tool.

qTest also integrates seamlessly with the qTrace screenshot capture and defect capture tool, which can submit bug reports directly into qTest to increase the testing team's productivity.

Newly released to the market in February 2012, qTrace has created a new category of testing tool. qTrace not only captures images of software screens, but also the user's actions such as mouse clicks and entered text. By leveraging the screen images and generated text narration, a tester can describe and submit software defects in full detail quickly and easily.

BWI: Gartner Names eMudhra in “Who’s Who in Text Analytics”

Gartner Names eMudhra in "Who's Who in Text Analytics"

Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Thursday, September 27, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- eMudhra is proud to announce that Gartner, Inc., the leading provider of research and analysis on the global information technology industry, has placed eMudhra's Veda Semantics in 'Application Specialists' Category in their 'Who's Who in Text Analytics', report published on 14th September 2012.

Gartner Analysts Daniel Yuen and Hans Koehler-Kruener selected 28 vendors for the report after reviewing 55 Global vendors, including the likes of IBM, SAS, SAP and Autonomy. eMudhra, an Indian company appearing in this list clearly assures and demonstrates the growing innovation spark in India.

What is Text Analytics?

Data in the digital world is exponentially growing primarily due to emails, social media, blogs and news sites. Though such data can provide vital and critical intelligence for every organization and Government, deriving any meaningful information from such unstructured data is very challenging and the traditional tools that depend on looking at tables, rows and models can't address this challenge. In recent times, using Semantic technology, a few large organizations, Political parties and government agencies across the globe could derive insights that benefitted them to understand the world's perception about themselves and their competition. By extracting the relevant words from the huge volume of unstructured data, Semantic technology has the ability to understand the meaning behind any unstructured data and further has the ability to understand the sentiment, intent, context of the unstructured data.

Amongst many capabilities of Semantic technology, understanding and deriving meaningful information from large volume of text is referred to as Text Analytics. One very critical aspect of Text Analytics is identification/ extraction of relevant information from the huge pile of ever growing unstructured data. Using Semantic tools the volume of data from various sources say social media sites, news sites, internal applications, emails, blogs, etc are crawled to check if any relevant direct or implied entity mentions exist; defining various entities relevant for the business can be achieved by mapping the key concepts of the business in ontological form. Once identified, the relevant data can further be analyzed to understand the intent, sentiments and context of the message or data.

Veda's Text Analytics capabilities featured in Gartner Report 'Who's Who in Text Analytics' analyzes text using various algorithms and integrates the same in various industry specific solutions. Besides Text Analytics, Veda Semantics provides capabilities in Context Analysis, Social Media Analysis, Ontology Modeling, and Sentiment Analysis.

Mr. Ravi Jagannathan, Vice Chairman of eMudhra Group said "We are glad that our commitment to provide innovative and niche technology solutions is recognized by Gartner. We are very proud that we could contribute in marking India's presence in this list. To assist those organizations who are keen to implement Semantics based analytics for their businesses, we have established a Semantic Center of Excellence in Bangalore."

Mr. Abhijit Mangalgiri, VP & Product Head, Veda Semantics said "Our global customers are already reaping the benefits of our text analytics capabilities. We believe Gartner's listing confirms our position in the market and our commitment to providing customers with our unique solution to meet their new generation challenges."

About eMudhra: Founded in 2008, eMudhra group provides innovative technology solutions to consumers, banks, government and other business enterprises. eMudhra CA is a licensed certifying authority for issuing Digital Signature Certificate by the Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India and Government of Mauritius. BWI: Akosha Touches Over 60,000 Consumers

Press release from Business Wire India

Akosha Touches Over 60,000 Consumers
Presents Trend Analysis of Consumer Complaints and Problem Sectors

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Thursday, September 27, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- Akosha, an online consumer dispute resolution forum has recently touched over 60,000 registered consumer complaints on its website in the short span of over a year, firmly establishing itself as a committed initiative in the field of consumer welfare.

"Akosha is committed towards ensuring a better brand-consumer ecosystem in the country and enhancing holistic consumer welfare. Furthering this cause, we have collated complaint data across various sectors to come up with a trend analysis which gives a fair idea of the sector wise consumer dynamics in the country," said Ankur Singla, Founder & CEO, Akosha.

The table below, compiled by Akosha, shows the top sectors in terms of the number of complaints received for each, an average of the amount that is usually disputed in such complaints and the resolution rate based on the operations feedback at Akosha.

Table

Note that the above analysis is limited to the complaint data available with Akosha based on the number of complaints registered with it in last one year.

This table is an approximate overview of how things play out in consumer dispute scenarios in various sectors. The percentage of complaints originating in any sector is the best criteria to judge that sector's consumer efficiency. However, holistically, in the current market dynamics, resolution rate is an equally important parameter based on which consumer friendliness of each sector can be judged.

E-commerce evidently tops the problematic sectors but is somewhat redeemed by a relatively high resolution rate. A product wise analysis indicates that "deficiency in delivery" is an issue which is most often a source of complaint for this sector (over 3000 complaints in one year), closely followed by payment issues.

Telecom is predictably a close second with over 17% of the total complaints originating from this sector. Prepaid connection related issues dominate the complaint scene in this particular sector (over 4000 complaints last year). Resolution rate is decent but not enough, given the fact that this is one of those sectors that constitute a necessity for most of the consumers.

As far this data set is concerned, the mobile phone sector is clearly the winner with highest resolution rate and low % of originating complaints, indicating that the mobile manufacturing industry in the country is by far the most receptive one towards consumer concerns. Though even in this sector, servicing issues are an area of concern and lead to the maximum number of complaints.

White Goods and computer appliances are also pretty close, clearly indicating that these sectors are slowly opening up to a more consumer friendly world. Based on this particular data analysis, in appliances sector, household items like air-conditioner and refrigerator are most likely to be cause of consumer complaint (around 1200 complaints in one year).

Banking and finance continues to remain a remarkably closed sector and is a clear point of concern with high average disputed amount and a shockingly low resolution rate. What is significant is the even distribution of most complaints between ATM and credit card transactions, clearly the two most problematic areas in banking sector.

Says Avinash Vankadaru, Operations Manager at Akosha, "The varying resolution rate in various sectors is a reflection of how far each sector has come when it comes to consumer satisfaction, at least in our experience"

This trend report is clearly a small chunk of the larger whole and the data used for this analysis is merely representative of the scale and diversity of consumer issues in the country. However, this trend analysis is sufficient to draw some broad conclusion with respect to the Indian consumers. Apart from the sector specific concerns discussed above, this analysis clearly shows that even though things are looking up at least in certain sectors, there is still a long way to go before we can achieve the aspiration of a truly consumer friendly world.

A pioneering initiative commenced and conceptualized by Lex Witness - India's first Magazine on Legal and Corporate Affairs presented an ideal platform to media professionals, industry specialists and stakeholders to come together and share their knowledge, thoughts and experiences. During the daylong convention, discussion on wide range of challenges that is affecting today's changing media environment took place.

The forum gained momentum with the presence of the Hon'ble Minister of Law & Justice, Mr. Salman Khurshid, who said He also accepted that there has been a considerable debate about media impact, advertising and entertainment industry in the context of legal implications and regulations keeping in mind its crucial public interest.

The new amendment to the Copyright Act of 1957 highlights a fresh era for the Media, Advertising & Entertainment fraternity in particular as it seeks to protect the rights of authors for their literary works like scripts, lyrics or musical works and grant them an equal share in the royalties earned from exploiting their creations. The move also brings in moral rights for performers, statutory licenses for broadcasting organizations like radio and television, compulsory licensing for foreign works and copyright society for administering performers' rights and broadcasting rights. As the impact of these revisions sunk into the minds of stakeholders, they thoroughly discussed and examined the prospects of all the alterations that might come into effect in consequence.

Speaking in regards to the legal sphere of influence, PBA Srinivasan, Editor-in-Chief, Lex Witness said "The changes in the Copyright bill have been made to bring the home laws at par with the international treaties. However there are some legal ambiguities in the act in relation to the disbursement of the royalties which need to be stressed out. Moreover, as the self regulation and regulatory bodies play an important role in the media and broadcasting business, hence discussion over the present bottle necks and suggesting reforms for the same became the need of the hour."

The discussion initiated with interpreting the changes and its impact focusing on the rights of the author, composer, performer & broadcaster with a special emphasis on Royalty Payments. Emerging implications of the new competition law in the industry, convergence of technology and the legal issues related to it because of the digitalization and the new technologies entering into market, contract management & arbitration in Media business, analyzing compliance challenges faced by Media, Advertising and Entertainment Industry were other important topics for discussion at the Summit. Adding to the dialogue was the latest development of FDI increase in the broadcasting sector from 49 per cent to 74 per cent which received many critical remarks from the gathering.

ICMG Japan Enters into a JV with Bizworth to Enhance Indo-Japan Trade Ties
ICMG Consulting India to advocate Intellectual Capital Management approach

Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Thursday, September 27, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- ICMG Co., Ltd, Japan , the acknowledged leader in the field of Intangibles and Intellectual Capital in Japan announced their India entry through a joint venture with Bizworth India Private Limited, a next-generation consulting company specializing in Intellectual Capital assessment, valuation and protection. The joint venture named as ICMG Consulting India Pvt. Ltd is a full-scope JV including equity participation and joint management, with 51% of the equity held by ICMG Japan and 49% by Bizworth India.

ICMG Consulting India Pvt. Ltd seeks to enhance Indo-Japan trade ties by mainly addressing two broad gaps in the consulting space: The Domain gap and the Geo-Economic gap. The Domain gap is a result of the lack of emphasis on intangible assets. The Geo-Economic gap is a result of the tendency to follow west-oriented consulting strategies, in spite of increased Asia centric business prospects.

The reason for the Domain Gap is that companies and consultants have often failed to understand or recognise the role played by intangible assets with the possible exception of patents. Tools and strategies to demystify such intangibles have been hard to come by. ICMG Consulting India is perhaps the only company in India and one of the very few in the world, which looks at all the intangible assets of the company on a holistic basis.

Commenting on the JV, Mr Hitoshi Funahashi, CEO, ICMG Japan said, "We are very excited to announce this JV with BizWorth which will help companies take advantage of their Intellectual capital towards sustainable growth. In the 60th year of Indo-Japanese diplomatic relations, we will also facilitate Indo-Japan cross-border JVs, M&As, collaborations and technology-transfers through this JV. Further, over the next three years, we hope to capture a sizeable percentage of the Indian market through our progressive plan of undertaking 60 projects across IC Rating Assessment and HR development as well as providing 30 customers with ICMG Consulting services."

Adding further, he said, "Although India traditionally suffers from a shortage of Financial and Physical Capital, it has an abundance of Intellectual Capital consisting of intangible organisational value, including organisational capital (Processes, culture), human capital (motivated people, knowledge systems and ideas) and relational capital (brands, networks and customer relations). Through this JV, we will support companies in evaluating and building their intellectual capital, to attain sustainable growth. One of the tools and services will be to provide the universally proven and globally acclaimed - IC Rating ®assessment". ICMG's global network and experience across all continents can provide companies with a truly global perspective.

Explaining the relevance during the economic slowdown, Mr. J. Suri, Director, ICMG Consulting India Pvt. Ltd said, "The Indian market has been identified as one of the most abundant geographies for Intellectual Capital. Through ICMG's offerings, companies in India can now harness their Intellectual Capital, optimize and leverage it. In the current economic scenario, companies can increase their valuations and exploit their existing resources and investment to increase growth."

Mr. S. R Gopalan - Director ICMG Consulting India Pvt. Ltd said, "ICMG Consulting India believes that there is a significant untapped niche in the Indian market for providing services with the Domain and Geo-Economic USP that ICMG Consulting India has. This niche will be among the fastest-expanding niches as India's economic destiny gets increasingly harnessed to the Asian region."

Adding on ICMG Consulting India first client, Mr. Gopalan said, "We have already started consulting for our first Japanese customer, a leader in the telecom equipment space and a subsidiary of one of the large Japanese Conglomorate. We are assisting them with their India entry strategy. Besides providing them with an understanding on the Indian market and the regulatory framework, we have introduced them to potential partners and customers and helped them to conduct techncial workshops. This is an in-depth, on-going engagement which will help them them to strategise their entry for success."
