CIO Association of India (CAI), Asia's Largest Network of CIO's, is a Unique Platform for Convergence of Great Minds

Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Tuesday, October 06, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- -- 1000 CIO's, IT heads, are its members
-- Some of the most unique initiatives like Multi-city Boardroom, Book Club, Breakfast meetings, etc

The CIO Association of India (CAI) with it's headquarters in Bangalore today announced that it is India's largest member-driven, non-profit organization serving the interests of CIOs and Heads of IT across the country. It provides a niche platform for convergence of great minds which is critical to drive results in today's business context. Presently it has a social network of over 1000 CIO's, IT Management and Technology leaders.

CAI (formerly known as Great CIO) was founded in May, 2008 by Mr. Tapan Garg providing member services in many areas including research, education and networking.

Speaking about the objective behind starting such an initiative, Tapan Garg, Founder & CEO, CAI said, "Our mission is to pack this differentiated community with high end substance, so that the IT leaders of the country will walk away, informed and inspired in an area of critical concern to all of us, how best to drive benefits from Information Technology. The platform offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with those working in the vineyards of sustainable futures and an opportunity to gain a clearer understanding on a topic no one can afford to ignore".

To help achieve its objectives CAI has a group of eminent people on its advisory board such as Mr. Jayasimha Varadarajan of Thomson Reuters, Sudesh Agarwal, Lifestyle Stores, Ajay Dhir, CIO, JSL Limited (Jindal Steel), Anshul Dureja, CIO, Greenply, among others.

Agreeing with Tapan, Sudesh Agarwal, Lifestyle Stores said, "The objective of CAI is to share experience, enhance knowledge and explore business solutions by leveraging the experiences of its members. CAI will encourage an exchange of information on IT technology, approaches and analyzing new technologies with fellow members to help in their respective businesses".

"IT leaders can fuel growth & innovation and it's our constant endeavour to empower them with knowledge to help them make better & more informed decisions in today's environment. Our efforts at the CIO Association of India have always been to foster initiatives which add value to our members." added Tapan Garg. Recently we held the country's first ever multi-city CIO Boardroom to speak about "Adding & Measuring Economic Value using IT." The session was chaired by Dr. Jai Menon, Group CIO, Bharti Enterprises. The event used CISCO's Tele-Presence to connect CIO's in 4 cities - Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.

Commenting on such a forum, Jayasimha Varadarajan of Thomson Reuters said, "The CIO Association of India is a fantastic peer-to-peer community for CIOs and other top IT leaders to address the career, technical and organizational needs of today's IT leaders. It also provides a secure, confidential place where IT leaders can network with their peers, share best practices and keep up to date with industry trends."

"The CIO Human Network Club" a recently launched joint initiative by CAI and Cisco is an exclusive (CIOs only) forum created for CAI members, that aims to deliver to them month after month, the best of leadership, technology and management writing as well as thought leadership, on topics relevant to today's CIO. Every month a book by one of the world's most eminent thought leaders is being sent to CAI's CIO members (Registered before 14th Aug, 2009).

"It is a pleasure to be associated professionally with CAI and see it grow to what it is now, over the past year. This forum provides an excellent opportunity to learn, share knowledge and be a part of a large network in the industry. The topics covered for discussion are of great importance to the community and I'm sure that in the months to come, this will attract many more colleagues and enrich our thoughts. The recent initiatives like The CIO Boardroom, Partnership with Cisco for The Book of The Month, are all noteworthy." said Ajay Dhir, CIO, JSL Limited (Jindal Steel).

As a part of another initiative taken by CAI - "5 Things Every CIO should know", CAI will be video-interviewing CEO's and other respected IT thought leaders, on what are the most important things they want CIO's to exclusively focus on.

"I compliment CAI for bringing upon a platform for CIO's to interact with each other and help them use the vast resources of knowledge through networking in improving the value-chain of IT enablement with Business. As we see today, CAI stands as a exclusive forum of who's who of the tech world in India from the CIO Community, may it be of like the innovative "5 Things Every CIO Should Know" or others. I am quite hopeful that CAI shall meet its objectives, and shall stand out the tallest in yielding a helping hand to CIO's through the immense networking and collaboration platforms it offers." said Anshul Dureja, CIO, Greenply.

"I think with all the support and enthusiasm from all our advisors & members, we are all set to scale great heights. We look forward to serving the needs of the CIO community in India and bringing true value to their professional lives." said Tapan.
