Paytm, India’s largest mobile marketplace will showcase Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation’s exquisite handicrafts and handlooms of the state via its Marketplace. It is proposed to establish a brand store by the name of ‘Garvi Gurjari’ on the Paytm marketplace so that the indigenous craftsmen and retailers of Gujarat could leverage the large country-wide customer base of Paytm and drive their business beyond their immediate geographical boundary.
The EOI was signed in the presence of the Managing Director of Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation (GSHHDC), Mr DK Sharma. “We are happy to tie up with Paytm through the ‘Garvi Gurjari’ brand store. Our objective is to showcase the best of the state of Gujarat to the world. Through the association, we will not only be providing a monumental advantage to our smaller merchants and artisans but will also be offering access to buyers across the nation to the unique crafts that are only found in our state”, said Mr. Sharma.
Renu Satti, Vice President – Paytm said, “It gives us immense pleasure to bring GSHHDC on our platform. This association is in line with several other endeavours made by Paytm to give a veritable boost to the smaller artisans and craftsmen of the country. We are committed to help the skilled, hardworking and enterprising artisans of Gujarat leverage the potential of e-commerce. Paytm & Garvi Gurjari will together play a great role in promoting the artisans and craftsmen through e-commerce. We aim at providing better opportunities to the artisans besides preserving the rich craft & art form of Gujarat. This initiative will help in showcasing the talent of the artisans to the various parts of the country. We have also recently tied up with the DharaviMarket.com through which 100+ artisans from Dharavi would be selling their products on Paytm.”
Commenting on the association, Mr Param Shah, Head, FICCI Gujarat State Council, said,
"Gurjari 2015 has a provided a platform for many strategic tie-ups with GSHHDC. Paytm has a strong presence in the e-retailing sector, and their association with Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation Ltd (GSHHDC) will help bring the handloom and handicraft products of Gujarat to a larger market. This is beneficial for the artisans as their products can reach all Paytm users. We, at FICCI, are pleased to facilitate this as part of Gurjari 2015”
The ‘Garvi Gurjari’ store, a well-known brand name in Handloom and Handicrafts, on the Paytm marketplace will sell handloom and handicraft products of Gujarat like patola, mashroo, tie and dye, tangaliya etc. and printworks like Warli, Matani Pacchedi, Rogan etc. among other handlooms and handicrafts made by artisans affiliated with GSHHDC.
