Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Thursday, September 15, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- -- A world class training centre with investment of Rs. 50 million to cater to needs of the industry
-- Initiative aims at increasing efficiency and earning capability of artisans substantially

Bosch Power Tools, India's leading power tools manufacturer, today announced the launch of its state of the art training center in India. Inaugurated by Dr. Rudolf Colm, Member, Board of Management, Robert Bosch GmbH, the new training centre created with an investment of INR 50 million is one of the largest of its kind in the Bosch world.

Spread over a sprawling area of 700 square meters this training centre will cater to the training and development needs of over 5,000 people annually in India and in the SAARC countries. It is expected to provide training to approximately 20,000 people in the coming decade.

At the launch, Bosch also announced that with this initiative it intended to reach out to approximately 15 million unskilled artisans in India.

Apart from artisans the training centre will also assist direct retail customers, retailers, dealers and internal staff along with faculties and students of leading institutes like IITs and NITs. At various companies in industries such as automotive, construction, wind energy and infrastructure along with support from the training center, Bosch will also conduct their Train-The-Trainer (TTT) programs for instructors and faculty, who in turn conduct similar programmes for students and other users.

Another significant facet of this "Training and Development" initiative is the Bosch Vahan project (a mobile training van equipped with all the power tools and accessories for hands on training). This project has already reached out to carpenters, plumbers and electricians.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Rudolph Colm, Member, Board of Management, Robert Bosch GmbH said "Training and development is an important part of our culture at Bosch Power Tools, we believe that through good training we can create groups of highly trained efficient workers who can use the world class tools not only for their own personal benefits but also in turn benefit the society. The launch of the training centre and other community development initiatives will help us not only to increase our customer base in India but also create a pool of highly trained skilled workers."

Mr. Vijay Pandey, Vice President, Bosch Power Tools India said," At Bosch Power Tools, we have always focused on skill development to empower our users. We feel that there is a huge untapped pool of technicians and artisans we can still reach out to. Through our various initiatives including the launch of the training centre we are confident that we will be able to train all these people in the use of power tools and thereby increase efficiency and earning capability substantially" .

Driven by its focus on innovation and technology, Bosch Power Tools re-invests more than 10 per cent of its revenue into training and development annually.
