Redpine Signals Announces ultra-low Power 802.11n Wireless LAN Connectivity Products for Freescale Processor Platforms
Redpine's Wi-Fi modules enable the provision of 802.11n wireless transport on multiple Freescale processor platforms ranging from the i.MX series to KinetisT and Coldfire® MCUs
Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Wednesday, August 24, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- Redpine Signals, Inc., a leading developer of wireless LAN semiconductors and systems, today announced the availability of a set of ultra-low power, single stream, 802.11n modules ported on to multiple processor platforms from Freescale Semiconductor. Participating as a Gold Sponsor in the Freescale Technology Forum in Bengaluru on Aug 24 and 25, 2011, Redpine is demonstrating Wi-Fi solutions for emerging embedded applications built on Freescale microcontrollers. Redpine provides Wi-Fi client, access point and Wi-Fi DirectT solutions on Freescale MCUs that include i.MX, Kinetis, and Coldfire families. Redpine is among the earliest in the world to offer the recently defined Wi-Fi Direct protocol that provides revolutionary peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connectivity for a variety of applications including file sharing, data sync, wireless printing and wireless displays, among others.
Redpine offers Wi-Fi development kits for ease of development of an integrated embedded solution. For the Freescale Tower platform, Redpine offers a kit consisting of a Tower card with Redpine's self-contained RS9110-N-11-21 module from its Connect-io-nT product family, complete WLAN firmware, drivers for SPI interface and sample applications on Freescale's Kinetis and Coldfire MCUs, and a complete set of documentation. The kit enables embedded designers, even without a detailed knowledge of Wi-Fi technology, to quickly and easily integrate high performance Wi-Fi into a wide spectrum of embedded systems. Redpine also offers evaluation boards (EVBs) with its n-LinkT products with SDIO and SPI interfaces for high throughput applications using i.MX platforms.
"With over 10 years of R&D and product development experience, Redpine has established itself as leader in providing advanced Wi-Fi solutions for emerging embedded Wi-Fi markets - industrial, medical, smart energy and consumer markets. Our specific efforts on providing Wi-Fi connectivity on Freescale platforms and our participation in the Freescale Technology Forum in Bangalore are aimed at providing the fast-growing embedded design community in India the right connectivity building blocks to develop advanced solutions for the market here," said Venkat Mattela, CEO of Redpine Signals. "With strong local support from our development center in Hyderabad, we are uniquely poised to offer to the design ecosystem in India a complete combination of products, development tools, and applications support," he added.
"Freescale is the one of leading suppliers of embedded microcontroller and embedded microprocessors in India." said Vivek Tyagi, Country Sales Manager for Freescale Semiconductor. "With our collaboration with Redpine Signals, we are able to address the needs of our customers not only in developing products with wireless connectivity for the Indian market, but also in being centers of excellence in the design of embedded Wi-Fi products for deployment worldwide," he added.
Redpine Signals is demonstrating its Wi-Fi products at its Pedestals 11a and 11b at the Freescale Technology Forum 2011 in Bangalore on August 24th and 25th, 2011, where it is also conducting a tutorial session on Embedded Wi-Fi as the choice of communication for the 'Internet of Things'.
