6th National Quality Conclave to focus on "Future of Quality- the National Agenda"
Special emphasis on the role of quality in securing the future of the nation

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Wednesday, February 02, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- Quality Council of India (QCI), India's apex quality accreditation & promotion body is organizing its 6th National Quality Conclave on the 11th and 12th of February 2011. The theme for the 6th National Quality Conclave is" Future of Quality ¬ the National Agenda" Surrounding the theme the Conclave will discuss a range of quality issues related to role of quality in transforming India into a developed country.

With a potent theme "Future of Quality-¬ the National Agenda" which reflects the vision on the role of QCI, the conclave will focus on exploring the future role of quality in order to respond to national initiatives on key issues for ensuring national wellbeing. The theme is aligned with the focus areas of the Council, namely, Education, Healthcare, Public Services and Industry with special focus on SMEs. Within the framework of the theme, the Conclave will offer the participants an opportunity to update knowledge on innovative ideas and best practices relating to the future of quality in industry, education, healthcare, environment, conformity assessment and others.

The 6th National Quality Conclave will be graced by the presence of Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Dy Chairman, Planning Commission, who as the chief guest will address the inaugural session. Other eminent speakers who would address the 6th Quality Conclave include Shri Arun Maira , Chairman, Quality Council of India and Member Planning Commission, Padmashree Dr Bakthavatsaiam, Chairman KG Hospital. Dr. S.K. Chakraborty, Founder, Management Centre for Human Values, Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, Dr. N. Ravichandran, CEO, Lucas-TVS.

Announcing the theme for the event, Dr.Girdhar J Gyani, Secretary General, Quality Council of India, said, "This year's theme "Future of Quality ¬ the National Agenda" is yet another firm step towards taking the nation on the road to excellence. As issues related to the future of quality are taking centre stage we have selected the aforesaid theme. The 2 day event comprising of 8 sessions will showcase innovative services, programmes and practices that effectively support initiatives for shaping of a better future. At the conclave QCI-D.L. Shah Award winners' would be felicitated. The QCI-DL Shah Award has been instituted with a view to establish that bottom line benefits are achieved through quality initiatives. The Award recognizes successful project (case study) of an organization that have linked quality initiatives to real term financial gains and competitiveness.

The Conclave will provide an excellent opportunity for professionals from, education, healthcare, NGO, and industry sectors to update their knowledge on trends of quality in several vital sectors of the economy. The recommendations from the Conclave form the agenda for actions by the Quality Council of India to make quality happen in various sectors of the economy.
