Great Lakes Institute of Management, among the top 20 B-schools in the country, founded by Prof. Bala V Balachandran signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Orchid Chemicals) for setting up a Center for Excellence in Technopreneurship at Great Lakes campus near, Chennai. The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Former President of India during the inauguration of Great Lakes' B-school festival, L'Attitude 13° 05.The Chennai-based pharma major, Orchid Chemicals donated Rs 50 million for setting up a Center for Excellence.
Orchid - Center for Excellence in Technology, Innovation & Technopreneurship is an incubator that will enable students in advancing the knowledge, know-how, exploitation of technologies, and disseminating global best practices to convert ideas into ventures and thus contribute in a significant manner in India's tryst with destiny in reaching global economic leadership.
The event was graced over by many other dignitaries from the corporate world including, Mr. Satish Pradhan, Group Head HR, Tata Sons; Mr. Firdose A Vandrevala, CMD, Hirco Developments Pvt. The two day B-school festival - L'Attitude 13°05', hosted by Great Lakes Institute attracts the brightest minds from premier B-schools across the country. This year's participation had, more than 15 overseas B-schools including Yale, Illinois Institute of Technology, Michigan State, Cass & others besides more than 35 premier Indian B-schools including all the IIMs, IIFT, XLRI, IITs & others. The fest is a potpourri of students, academia and industry icons. Experience and the diversity of participants provided for a great learning opportunity.
This edition of the event is based on the theme, '3BL - People Planet Profit - Triple Bottom Line', which will have events related to creating a fair and beneficial business practices towards labour force, ecological environment and economic value created by the organization.
