Rotary Bengaluru Basavanagudi, a brand-new club of Rotary International District 3190 was recently chartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India with Rtn. Krishna B. Mariyanka as its president for the year 2015-16. Several new rotary members were inducted to the club on the occasion.
Rotary International (
www.rotary.org) is a global team of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, and community leaders who have, over the years, come together to create positive, lasting change in our communities and around the world. What remains most interesting is their diverse occupations, cultures, countries, states and lifestyles that give a unique perspective to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and to advance goodwill and peace around the world.
“The strength of Rotary is its diversity within unity, and the new Rotary Bengaluru Basavanagudi club adds to that diversity. It will be unique in its membership, its talents, and its goals, but it will share in the broader vision of Rotary: to educate our children, to provide clean water and improve health, to rid the world of polio, and to bring peace in a lasting and innovative way. Chartering a new club requires work that is not always easy, but that is always rewarding. With your fellow club members and with Rotary members around the globe, you are creating the future of Rotary,” said Mr. K. R. Ravindran, the Rotary International President, in a message to the club president.
“It is great to have many new members join in and come on board the all-new Rotary Bengaluru Basavanagudi club to further spearhead the efforts of Rotary International. We must indeed always think global, but act local first, for responsible leadership means not just doing work for the world very far off, but also making the most out of every donation we receive from time to time and ensuring that it works for specific objectives of the community and society we live in first,” said Rtn. Krishna B. Mariyanka, President, Rotary Club of Bengaluru Basavanagudi, in his acceptance speech.
Members of Rotary Bengaluru Basavanagudi under Rotary International District 3190 usually gather weekly for breakfast, lunch, or dinner to fulfill their first guiding principle to develop friendships as an opportunity for service. “It is the duty of all Rotarians," states the
Manual of Procedure "outside their clubs, to be active as individuals in as many legally constituted groups and organizations as possible to promote, not only in words but through exemplary dedication, awareness of the dignity of all people and the respect of the consequent human rights of the individual. The Rotarian's primary motto is "Service Above Self"; its secondary motto is "One profits most who serves best.” For more information about Rotary Bengaluru Basavanagudi, please click:

We have great expectations from the club as we work together to improve the lives of the needy in the community we operate in. We must always remember that Rotary is a great opportunity to create a positive difference in the world around us and I am confident that the Rotary Club of Bengaluru Basavanagudi, under the strong leadership of Rtn. President Krishna Mariyanka, will be able to do a lot more for the community,” said Flt. Lt. Rtn. K. P. Nagesh, District Governor, RID 3190, who presented the club charter at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest of the installation ceremony, Mr. Prakash Belawadi in his special address said, “Many times, through various network of resources and partners, we seek help and focus on key service efforts such as promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies and fight for a better Bengaluru. Basavanagudi has a great history and heritage to its credit and a Rotary club for the community here can only make it a better place to live in and therefore, it is the last chance and duty of every citizen of this neighborhood to save Bengaluru, before it is lost forever.” Bells & Bugles, the first issue of Rotary Bengaluru Basavanagudi newsletter, was released to mark the charter ceremony.
