BWI: JN Port Achieves another Breakthrough, Docks the Longest Vessel to have Berthed at any Indian Port

Source : Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust Thursday, April 7, 2016 3:48PM IST (10:18AM GMT)   JN Port Achieves another Breakthrough, Docks the Longest Vessel to have Berthed at any Indian Port   Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India Global trade enabler JN Port has once again created history by hosting MSC Cristina, the longest container vessel to have called at any Indian port. The vessel docked on 1st April 2016 at the newly launched Nhava Sheva (India) Gateway Terminal at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai.   With the calling of MSC Cristina of length 365.96 metres, JN Port has broken its own record of hosting the longest vessel to have docked at the port. At full capacity, the MSC Cristina can carry 13,102 TEUs, at a draft of 14.5 metres. The berthing of this vessel at the terminal is a testament to the facilities available at the container terminal, as also to the efforts and commitment by the Port authority in improving the marine infrastructure at Jawaharlal Nehru Port.   Mr. Anil Diggikar, IAS Chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust said, “MSC Cristina features in the top 100 longest container vessels present in the world.
