New Delhi, Delhi, India

  • Over 4500 stations and 2900 trains made available for citizen ratings
  • Additional railway services like catering, ticketing to be added soon
  • Ministry of Railways to receive consolidated ratings every quarter
  • Ratings to help Railways better understand key issues and address them

LocalCircles (https://www.localcircles.com), India’s largest citizen engagement platform that hosts the largest citizen community with 150,000 citizens on Railways “Make Railways Better” with Ministry of Railways today announced that it is rolling out the capability for citizens to rate trains and stations on fingertips.

As part of this roll out, any citizen can now rate on fingertips, the over 2900 trains and 4500 stations across India on parameters like cleanliness, safety, ambience, services & amenities, timeliness, staff etc. In addition to the rating, citizens can also share qualitative feedback based on their experience.

Over the last one year, over 300,000 citizen experiences have been reported via the Make Railways Better circle including the extensive citizen consultation exercise that recently concluded for Rail Budget 2016 followed by a post budget assessment. 13 of the 21 recommendations submitted collectively by citizens were incorporated by Ministry of Railways in the Rail Budget.

The citizens have regularly been requesting the capability to rate trains and stations and after consultation with the Ministry of Railways, LocalCircles is rolling out this capability to further enable citizen participation in Making Railways Better.

“While individual grievances can at times be an exception, these ratings will represent the collective and have built in accountability as every citizen is rating with their real first and last name”, said Sachin Taparia, Chairman and CEO of LocalCircles. “This ratings capability has been rolled out after hundreds of requests from citizens and will provide information in a structured format, which will be made available on a consolidated basis to Ministry of Railways to improve their services, continued Taparia.

In the very near future, ratings will also be made available for other services like catering, ticketing, etc. and all of these will help the Ministry of Railways know about exact problems in the Railway Network and address them more effectively. For example, the collective ratings may outline that the Bangalore-New Delhi Rajdhani always has leaking toilet accessories while the same are functioning well in New Delhi-Bangalore bound Rajdhani highlighting a maintenance corrective action in the South Western Railway zone or wherever the maintenance is taking place. Similarly, food, bedroll, catering, staff, TTE issues will be easily highlighted across the railway network for timely redressal.

In the soft roll out done via the Make Railways Better Circle, already over 10,000 citizens have rated the various trains and stations. Any citizen can now register at http://www.localcircles.com and search for a train or station they would like to rate and submit their ratings. Alternatively, they can directly visit the following:
