Frost & Sullivan recently concluded the 'India Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2015’ (IMEA) and Manufacturing Summit – Sharing of Best Practices at Hyatt Regency, Mumbai. The summit and the awards banquet gathered the best of India’s manufacturing enterprises, recognizing their achievements and celebrating their success stories. In its 12th year, this assessment program conducted by Frost & Sullivan’s Manufacturing & Process Consulting Practice, identified the frontrunners and the future leaders of the “Make in India” program, leading the way through implementation of best practices in manufacturing.
Frost & Sullivan’s Manufacturing Summit was the platform for winning enterprises from the Indian manufacturing sector to share their knowledge and experiences. Starting from the assessment process, to the inculcation of innovation, best practices and a host of other critical criteria’s; the winners of IMEA 2015 showcased what set them apart and propelled their facilities, people and system to achieve efficiency in production, time management and risk reduction. The importance of bringing a holistic change in the shop floor, not just with technology but trained and efficient manpower and effective safety and other measures was stressed upon at the Summit.
The twelfth India Manufacturing Excellence Awards banquet celebrated the success of the companies who displayed their capability in being future ready to support the opportunities that will come with the next wave of manufacturing revolution with Make in India. The initiative with manufacturing being at its core was one of the key points which featured on the panel discussion during the awards banquet. Moderated by Mr. Raghavendra Rao, Senior Vice President, Frost & Sullivan; the panel was represented by eminent industry leaders who debated on the topic “Manufacturing share in GDP at 25%. An utopic assumption or a possible reality for India.”
“India has the potential to retain and further enhance its position as a preferred manufacturing and outsourcing hub and through India Manufacturing Excellence Awards, we identify and recognize the best of India’s manufacturing companies who will play a significant role in achieving this objective”, said Nitin Kalothia, Director, Manufacturing & Process Consulting Practice, Frost & Sullivan. “Developing technical skill amongst the workforce, innovative thought process at workplace and engaging employees across the hierarchy in improvement initiatives will drive operational and supply chain efficiencies”, he added.
The robust and objective on-site assessment methodology based on the Global Manufacturing Excellence Model captures a facility’s operational performance across 12 parameters and business results (on financial and non-financial goals). Manufacturing facilities qualifying in the Platinum category are presented with the “Future Ready Factory of the Year” award. The facility that has proven to be the best across all industry verticals is presented with “The Indian Manufacturer of the Year” award.
