Based on the theme of ‘Global Vintage Indo-Western Wears Spring-Summer 2016’, BeenaKannan’s initiative Ensemble 2015, the international design competition for the students of fashion took place from 9 am to1 pm yesterday at Le-Meridien Kochi. Out of the 146 teams who submitted their designs, 20 were shortlisted by an eminent jury consisting of Sumi Giriraj, Seema Mahajan, Shahzad Khalim and Radha krishnan Chakyat.
The short listed 20 teams expressed their creations through ramp walk by celebrity models. The works of 100 designers went on the ramp to thundering applause from the fashion loving audience. Leading choreographer Dalu Krishnadas directed the ramp walks. Former Miss Kerala, Rohini Idikula hosted the show.
The new generation of future designers showed class and good taste in their creation. BeenaKannan of Seematti who initiated the Ensemble in 2014 spoke highly of the young talent and the wide-ranging professional experience they gained from Ensemble. She added that Ensemble is set to make Kochi the fashion hub of India in the years to come.
The first prize is the Ensemble Ever rolling Trophy and a cash prize of Rs. One lakh. The 2nd and 3rd prizes are Rs. 75,000 and 50,000 respectively.
