Embassy Group, India’s leading real estate developer, has partnered with Ashwini’s Sports Foundation (ASF) to launch the spanking new, world-class Embassy ASF 10m Shooting Range and Gymnasium at the ASF. Arena in Gonikoppal, South Coorg. This is the first time in the country that a private Sports Foundation has built such a world-class facility. The Embassy ASF Shooting Range has been built with funding from the Embassy Group and was inaugurated by Jitu Virwani, Chairman & Managing Director, Embassy Group and his wife Lina Virwani.
ASF was founded by Ashwini Nachappa, one of India’s best known sprinters. An Arjuna Awardee, Ashwini represented India at the Olympics in 1988 and is an Asian Games Silver medallist. Over the past decade, she has been focusing on creating a unique approach to education that integrates sports with academics at a very early age. Along with her husband Datha Karuambiah, she manages a school – KALS which puts this approach into practice. Talented athletes from this school are then absorbed into ASF, which then provides structured, world-class training through a unique 4-step model. More than 50 talented children have been identified and are training in Athletics and Hockey. With the Embassy ASF Shooting Range, ASF will now add this to its repertoire of sporting disciplines.

Ashwini’s Sports Foundation™ (ASF™) was set up in 2010 to nurture talented athletes in the areas of Track and Field and Hockey. In both these sporting disciplines India has been lagging behind and it is ASF’s intent to create a replicable ecosystem that is able to unearth right talent and groom athletes to be consistently on par with the rest of the world. With this in mind, ASF is building a world-class facility – The ASF Arena that will include a 400mts. synthetic track with a state-of-the-art sports lab as well as an enclosed 150 mts. track for all year training. Apart from this, the swimming facility, The Biocon ASF Aquatic Centre, is already operational as well as the Embassy ASF Shooting Range.

ASF has 3 core programs that enable talented athletes to benefit from the ASF System™. Through its ‘Nurture’ program, ASF identifies talent at an early age and provides children with quality education at the Karaumbiah’s Academy for Learning & Sport, which is an ICSE school from KG to 12th grade. The ‘Catalyst’ program is for coaches and talented children from other schools. An ‘Advanced’ program provides well established athletes at the national and international level with a world-class training program.
