In pursuance of the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ policy and the Indian Navy’s quest for ‘Self Reliance through Indigenous Development’, a seminar titled “Innovation and Indigenisation—Sailing towards Self Reliance” was organized by CII and the Indian Navy at DRDO Bhavan.
MKU, a leading manufacturer of ballistic protection solutions for personnel and platforms was a key participant at the event. Speaking on the occasion Mr Gupta emphasized the need of armour solutions for naval platforms. The presentation highlighted the benefits of light weight armour as compared to traditional steel armour. Apart from a huge weight advantage which non- metallic armour made of Advanced ceramics and fibres has over traditional ballistic steel there are other advantages like Low Thermal Signature, Water, Chemical & UV resistance, Corrosion & Crack Resistance, Good acoustic absorption and Excellent FST (Fire-smoke-toxicity).
