Kaushik Madhavan to Head the Automotive and Transportation Practice at Frost & Sullivan

Frost & Sullivan India has announced the appointment of Kaushik Madhavan as its new Head for the Automotive and Transportation Practice (A&T) effective 18th May, 2015. Kaushik takes over from Mr. Vijay Kakade who has led the A&T Practice for the last four years. Mr. Kakade, will be taking on another executive position at Frost & Sullivan’s Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) consulting practice.

In his role of spearheading the Automotive team for MENASA, Kaushik is responsible for managing the research and consulting teams within the A&T Practice. His focus will be on strengthening and growing the passenger and commercial vehicle business areas with emphasis on growing aftermarket opportunities for OEMs in India and the Middle East. The overall shift in mobility strategies of global OEMs will have an impact on their Indian presence as well and Kaushik will be involved in working with OEMs closely to adapt to the changing Indian regulatory framework.

Between 2013 and 2015, Kaushik worked with Nissan Motor India’s Product Planning department, where he was responsible for evaluating long-term product strategies for both Nissan and Datsun brands in India. At Nissan, Kaushik worked very closely with the Marketing, R&D, Corporate Planning and Market Intelligence teams in developing the Product Planning roadmap towards 2020 for new Nissan and Datsun models.

In his previous stint at Frost &Sullivan, Kaushik headed the Powertrain program area globally within A&T, managing and delivering strategic projects for European, Asian, and North American OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. Kaushik managed a global team of analysts and consultants working on strategic and emerging technology trends in Powertrain including advanced engine, transmission, hybrid and electric vehicle technologies. Kaushik also held the position of Director for the Global Innovation Centre (GIC) in Chennai. As part of this responsibility he was involved in mentoring senior analysts and managers in GIC across various business units.

With more than 15 years of experience in the automotive industry, especially in strategic consulting and market research, Kaushik’s expertise is in competitive intelligence and benchmarking, new market entry and diversification strategies, new business model analysis and evaluation and end consumer analysis of automotive technologies.

Over the past 10 years Kaushik has been a regular at various Automotive conferences and symposia in Europe and North America. He has moderated several panel discussions at Engine Expo in Germany over the years apart from presenting at engine and transmission symposia organized by CTI.

A mechanical engineer from the R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore, Kaushik completed his MS in Automotive Systems Engineering from the Institut fuer Kraftfahrzeuge, University of Technology Aachen in Germany.
