The Annual Convocation Ceremony of IILM was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the IILM Lodhi road campus, New Delhi.

Mr. Chandrashekhar Verma, Chairman Steel Authority of India Ltd. chaired the ceremony wherein 134 students of the Post Graduate class of 2015 were conferred with Diploma in Management.


Director, IILM Graduate School of Management, Dr. Taruna Gautam, welcomed Mr. Chandrashekhar Verma, Chairman Steel Authority of India Ltd. Mr. Verma took over as Chairman of SAIL in June 2010 and since then has steered the public sector giant for nearly 5 years. Prior to this assignment, he was Director (Finance), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. In April 2013, Mr. Verma was also appointed Chairman of SCOPE, the apex body of central public sector enterprises. During his career span of nearly 31 years, Mr. Verma has received various awards and accolades. Mr. Verma has also been conferred with the IIM - JRD Tata Award for “Excellence in Corporate leadership in Metallurgical Industries” for the year 2014.


Dr. Taruna Gautam highlighted recent achievements of the Institute, namely that, IILM had been invited to join the Skills Delegation which accompanied our Hon’ble Prime Minister to Canada last month. During this visit, under the aegis of the National Skill Development Corporation of India, IILM signed a MoU with Canada for Skill development in the area of Sports.

Dr. Gautam emphasized on IILM’s selection as a PRME Champion Business School, its inclusion in the 10 member advisory group to the PRME secretariat; launching of IGNITE, a 30,000sq ft incubation centre at IILM’s Gurgaon campus which will be amongst the largest such centers in North India, fashioned on the lined of IIM A’s centre in Ahmedabad and NAASCOM’s centre in Bangalore. IILM has recently signed a MoU with Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs Established by Ministry of Corporate Affairs. IILM and Indian Institute for Corporate Affairs will jointly conduct programmes for Government officers and executives of PSUs and corporates.

IILM has also been selected as one of the Best 32 Champion Business Schools by United Nations Global Compact from all over the world, and is only one in India.

Mr. Chandrashekhar Verma, Chairman, SAIL congratulated the graduating students and praised the Institute. 

He highlighted to students that they are entering into an environment, which is challenging but full of opportunities.The country is on the path of becoming an economic Super Power by 2025 and we are on a very favorable demographic profile with 50% of our population is near the age of 25 years.These young people will drive the nation.
 
IILM Chairperson, Mrs. Malvika Rai, presented the Dr. Kulwant Rai Gold and Silver medals to the meritorious students.
